Has anyone gotten a legal one?

I can't find anything legally stating one must have top surgery, but there is one stating you have to have a hysterectomy, and I just had mine done.

All I know is that you need a surgeon to sign... If I can do this, I can get everything changed so I won't possibly have to deal with any passport issues as right now in Canada, people are blowing up about how Trans people can be told they are not allowed to fly if their gender does not match the sex on their passport. The laws been around for a long time, but I'm going to Florida probably sometime next year and I don't want even the possibility of it happening to me and I'm not brave enough to flash my chest, although I though it'd be funny a few times if they ever did deny me. And there are people who have said they have been denied, just no reported cases that were written about, probably because it's ->-bleeped-<-ing embarrassing.

Anyways the papers are being sent to me... I think my surgeon might be willing to say it was SRS, even though again, legally you only need a hysterectomy... at least from what I've read. My surgeon is very trans friendly and knows I want to have more surgery, never discussed what, but most people assume bottom surgery, though I don't think I plan to ever get that until they learn to make it look and function better. She even agreed, if I didn't have endometriosis which I may or may not of had - she still would have done the operation because I wanted it.

Anyone know anything about this stuff?

You don't need surgery of any kind to change your Passport in Canada. You just need to sign a form indicating that Passport Canada is not responsible if you have any problems outside of Canada due to your gender marker not matching your Birth Certificate. It used to be that you only got a 2 year passport this way, but I got a regular 5 year one. I don't know if this was a mistake or if they've quietly changed the rules without telling anyone.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the form online, so you'll need to go to a Service Canada office and ask for one. They may not know what you are talking about, but if you are clear and certain they'll find it for you eventually.

Whether you can change your Birth Certificate/Driver's License/Health Card/etc. with a hysterectomy really depends on your province.

As for flying with the wrong gender marker: all you need is a letter saying you are in transition, on HRT, blah blah, and they won't give you any trouble. AKA a carry letter. Though I didn't even have to use mine when I did it. You also have the right to request a pat down be done in private, and/or you can specify your gender of choice for the person doing the pat down.

It varies by province, the laws are not the same throughout the entire country. I only know about BC because that is where I live. Here you have to have some kind of surgery which your surgeon will phrase as "SRS stage 1". Chest surgery or hysterectomy are usually sufficient for this. You get the legal gender change forms from the surgeon when you are post operative.

For a driver's license which does not require a legal gender change, you just take a doctor's note to the DMV sayin you're being treated for gender dysphoria, and they will change it.

Again, this is only the case in BC.  Look up the laws in your province because I don't know where you live.
