Hello everyone. My name is Kerrianne and I am a pre-op (scheduled for May 9, 2012 in Montreal with Dr. Brassard) transwoman from near Vancouver BC.  I've been living as myself fulltime for the past 2 and a half years and it's been an amazing journey to my self so far. I have a partner of 28 years who has stuck by me through a lot, and we live in a cute little shack with our two dogs and elder cat who actually runs the house (he's also the only boy in the house).

I've been on other forums so may know some people here already. If so. it would be lovely if you stopped by and said hi.
It's really important to me to now be in touch with lots of people who have srs experience as I live in a small town and have little RL support. And while I am super excited to be getting the surgery I am also nervous. I've never had any surgery at all before. Picked a good one to start with huh? :P

Anyway...hi everyone! Nice to be here. :)

Hi Kerrianne and welcome.  Another Aussie here, from Hobart in Tasmania. About as far from Vancouver,( or anywhere else!) as you can get.
It's fantastic you have a partner who has stayed by your side, so many of the girls and guys here have seen theirs leave.  Give her a hug from all of us.  Hopefully your town is one of those country places where people look after each other and life just goes on.  Hope to see more from you soon.

Karen.

Hi Kerrianne, it's nice to meet you! I live near Boston. I have a yellow lab named Clark. He doesn't run anything, he just sets the schedule! See you around, hugs, Devlyn

Welcome to Susan's.  Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.  I am sure if you are still nervous when the time comes that if you ask, many of us here will keep you in our thoughts with love and healing wishes.

Also congratulations to you AND your partner on working together to keep your relationship strong through your transition and even just normal life for 28 years.
Blessed Be!

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. :)

Thank you Cindy. I'll have to do some reading to get up to speed. :)

Karen, I know where Hobart is. My mom used to get letters from an old "friend" (he was an old flame, I'm sure of it, and I still think he was my real father although my mom denies it) who lived in Hobart. He passed away some years ago though. And I live in a great community for support. People have been just so awesome. :)

Hi Devlyn, nice to meet you, even if you are from Boston (just kidding, but I'm a huge Canucks fan and the Bruins are current enemy number one after last sping!). Yes, I understand about the dog setting the schedule. Speaking of which, I have to get ours out now. We have an older black lab- husky cross and a wacky younger pomeranian/pappilon?- ->-bleeped-<-zu? cross who keeps us all on our toes!

Thank you Jeneva. Yes, she has been my best friend and companion all those years, and I think that has helped us get through a lot of stuff. I'm very fortunate to have her, especially after some of the stuff I was doing last year. Long story, but we seem to have survived that too. I think sometimes we take for granted what works so smoothly in our lives, and transition does change dynamics so it is easy to lose one another. I'm grateful I haven't lost her. :)

Hi Kerrianne,
Another big Aussie welcome to Susan's. I'm just a little further north than Karen, in Sydney. Where you see the fireworks at New Year. In fact if you saw them, I was just a little to the right of the northern pylon. I was the one waving.    :icon_wave:

You are indeed a very blest woman, in your circumstances. A very big congrats on your up and coming operation. I'm sure everything will go well for you. We've just had a girl go through her GCS today, and I think I was more nervous that she was. To say it's life changing is the greatest understatement of all time.

I know what it's like to have a cat like yours. We had on that absolutely ruled the roost, dogs included. It literally ran the home. Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir. I think it was the forerunner to Garfield.

I'm very please you already know some here. You need a very strong, loyal and supportive family to transend this journey. I'm sure you'll feel at home here. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are coping. We'll keep the 12th May in mind, and if you need anything just 'holla'. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
