Quote"America's corporations learned long ago that equality is just good business and it's the right thing to do," Mr Blankfein says in the video, which was posted on YouTube.

Trust this hasn't been posted before. If it has, it's worth another round of applause.

I confess to having been , previously, rather cool on the idea of gay marriage. I felt that marriage was more a rite, where young girls would pretend they were some innocent princesses being swept up by their hansom prince.

I noticed that, in many societies, including Indian, this was essentially  the attitude. That it was one final fling before a girl becomes a woman.

But I've recently heard from some advocates and am swayed by the notion that marriage is an expression of love and a commitment to trust.

A compromise in the UK, called Civil Partnership was seen as the end of the matter. But it seems that Civil Partnership is not available to mixed sex couples. Moreover, the restriction of marriage to mixed sex couples seems bigoted. I have to say I am especially incensed that the CoE hierarchy seems to be refusing to allow a change in the law, even for those churches that are quite happy to have single sex marriages.

I do hope that, soon, we won't be hearing about gay marriage but rather, marriage.

From the article:

Gay rights advocacy group Human Rights Campaign published a video on Sunday in which 57-year-old Blankfein, who has headed investment bank Goldman Sachs since 2006, asks viewers to join a "majority of Americans who support marriage equality."

"America's corporations learned long ago that equality is just good business and it's the right thing to do," Blankfein said in the video...

Building consensus is the way to achieve goals.  Better bridges than walls.
