For 23 years I was trapped as Jessica: Now I'm free to be Jacob

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/transgender-jacob-saunders-spent-23-679658

Everyone knew Jessica Saunders was different. While the other girls played with dolls and were trying on make-up, Jessica wanted to climb trees and wrestle.

The only time she reached for the make-up bag was to paint a pretend moustache and beard on her face. She did that whenever she could.

All the clues were there. It's just that everyone chose to ignore them. Except Jessica. She just didn't understand them.

Jessica lived a lie for 23 years. Today, legally she doesn't exist. Jessica is now Jacob: a man, with a beard and a fiancee and the kind of normal, humdrum home life many men take for granted.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde
