Savage called transgender murder victim a "psychopath" and a "freak"

On the March 20 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage discussed a San Francisco Chronicle report detailing the murder of a transgender woman whose body was found naked near a freeway outside San Francisco. Savage read a sentence from the article stating that "it appeared the victim had been in the process of becoming a woman," to which Savage replied: "Yeah, process of becoming a woman -- psychopath. [She] should have been in a back ward in a straitjacket for years, howling on major medication." He went on to say, "And what's this sympathy, constant sympathy for sexually confused people? Why should we have constant sympathy for people who are freaks in every society?" adding, "But you know what? You're never gonna make me respect the freak. I don't want to respect the freak."

Every person of compassion and conscience in the entire world should be made full aware of hateful people like this guy. No working compassion mechanism whatsoever. Is there any way to file a class action suit for harassment, discrimination, heresay, and character defamation against people like this and their corresponding networks of employ for such prejudicial slurs ?

Tear them out by the roots, in an intelligent and methodical manner, whatever it takes.

Here someone lies dead by the hands of a bigot. And another justifies it publicly. I'm not prone to violence, but you know, I have a 6 foot long 2" aluminum pipe in my shop  that would fit nicely down this guys throat. It's a tempting thought to ponder.

Seriously - I am now wondering if there is any way to write or enact any form of legal precedent or legislation that would hold serious legal/public/private consequences for anyone that supports or publicly condones such horrificly insane and criminal violence against others based on prejudice. There must be a way to start making an example out of people like this.

I found his web site to see if I could find the stations where his show is broadcast.  Don't bother. In fact, this is a site I wouldn't let my own kids visit. I can't believe the hatred he's attempting to spawn.

He and his followers really seem to have a need to audition and cast 'freaks' into their dystopian life-script.  Sadly, his ranting only emboldens others to similar behaviour.

In this sense, I believe that stealth hurts us as a group.  There are too few well-known examples of trans-women and trans-men who are living normal, productive, well adjusted, successful lives.  Although there are many who fit the above criteria, they are invisible.

The real fear seems to be the successful gays and lesbians -- most recently and most notably Melissa Etheridge and Mary Cheney -- who are showing up in media scrutiny and who have no discernible negative attributes with which a conservative parent can scare their 5- to 7-year-olds with.

The trans people who pass are taken as the genuine article, while the marginally- or non-passable are easily detected and used as the conservative bogey-man.

How to combat the Michael S_____s of the world?  Isn't there a saying? --

"Living well is the best revenge"

To which I add;

VISIBLY living well is the best revenge.

I think to have any kind of change, we'd need overwhelming numbers. Look at how long it has taken the gay/lesbian movement to make a noticeable change... 20 years?  And there are millions of them out and visible.  We have nowhere near those numbers, even if every one of us came out publicly.  It's tough stuff.

Fortunately, I think the hate mongers are finally working for us in some perverted sense. They are bringing the issue to the table. As I track the Susan Stanton story, I'm seeing overwhelming responses in support for her as compared to the bigoted trash.

I remember when the KKK came to my college campus. It induced a patriotic ferver in the student body to actually physically move them off campus.  We united in a common cause to remove the filth. I kinda sorta think that our society is moving in that direction.  Sure we've got our zealots, but the majority of people just want to live and let live.

Righty-o, the G's and L's have the sheer numbers (and the votes that go with 'em.)  But the media, properly used, is a great force-multiplier.  So it's not as lopsided as you suggested.

Lopsided, yes, but with creativity of execution, a small but significant difference can be made.
