Hey Jeatyn -

In these pictures your bangs are cut like they would be in a short female haircut. The hair around your ears is tapered to a point instead of squared off like in a guy's haircut. Also, something about the layering on the top of your head is more like a female cut than a guy's.

Right now, I really think you just need a straight up male hair cut if you really care about passing.


edit: your haircut is way more male in the red hair picture - it is better shorter without the poof on the top, and without the longer bangs

@ Jeatyn, you seem to pass more with the shorter hair and piercings. But wear your hair however you want, grow it out and see how you pass and feel once the T kicks in.

Jeatyn THIS.........you definitely passed more with the shorter hair, now I don't know if it was the glasses or not ? Maybe it is the hair.  Maybe get a cut if you feel like it!

Jeatyn - imo, the glasses definitely hold back your passing, and I generally can't pinpoint such things...actually, you have a few similar features to me, and I struggle to pass as well. I'd be thrilled to death if I passed 50% of the time like you do though.

I think my now deep voice has contributed hugely to my passing. It dropped REALLY quickly which I am thrilled about. I always make sure I say hello how are you or some other random greeting when I go to the shops or get on the bus and I get "sir" and "mate" much more often than before; and phone passing has been at a 100% rate for the past few months.

Now that I'm looking at the pictures side by side my hair really does look ridiculous at the moment, the red look was much better. I wish I could skip this awkward half grown stage and go straight to the long hair I'm actually aiming for to see how it would look xD I think I may cut it tonight, with shorter hair AND a deep voice the 50% pass rate may go up....I'll grow it out again once more facial hair kicks in.

I'll post more pictures once it's short with and without glasses for more opinions if you don't mind ^_^



Edit: Got a bit carried away and went way shorter than usual! And uncovered what I'm pretty sure is the beginnings of a receding hairline D= not amused at this

Ok I have been on T for 3 months.  Had top surgery 2 months ago.  Sometimes I wonder if I really pass or not.  99% of the time I do, but I still wonder.  I haven't really been using the men's bathroom yet, for some reason I don't have to go or it hasn't really presented itself yet.  Maybe you guys can let me know what you think?

@Alex55: I see a huge difference, there's no way on earth I would gender you female in the second pic. I'm not even going to attempt a guess at your age, I've always been useless in that department xD

Jeatyn -- I would now say that you pass better with your glasses on...  And you definitely pass a lot better with the shorter hair.  Not sure the bright pink shirt is helping though...

Alex -- That's a huge difference, you look undeniably male now, no doubt about it.  I would also say 40's although I'm awful at guessing ages.

I think you pass better with short hair Jeatyn. Looks much better. I think you look alright with or without glasses. I don't think you completely pass yet, but I think you're on the right tracks. Alex, you totally look male now. That's one heck of a difference. I had to flick through the pictures a couple of times to make sure it was the same person. I'd say early to mid 40s but I'm not too great at guessing ages either.

Thanks everyone!  I am 48 yrs old...hahahaha..not too bad.  I am about 5'3" - 5'4" on good days. I grew my eyebrows out and they now look like caterpillars..  cut my hair shorter and bulked up a bit.  So like I said I pass about 99% of the time but I always get weird looks sometimes.

Jeatyn: I think you pass better without the glasses and the short hair in the photos you just posted. Especially the one where you're looking towards the side, maybe it's just the lighting but you don't look as pale and I can see a bit more bone structure. You don't pass 100%, I'd probably question whether you were another transguy if I saw you out on the street unless I just saw you very briefly, but I def wouldn't automatically think you were faab.

so i know i don't completely pass, i haven't started T or anything, i am more on the genderqueer side of being trans. but i am growing my hair out to see what it looks like. heres me with short hair:



i think i pass so much better in my short hair picture, but my mom hates my hair like that

Dylanjakoby, I think you pass also with the longer hair.

I was thinking about my earrings, a few people said that I shouldn't wear them cause it hinders my passing. I' d like to keep them, I don't think they are girly....so what do you think?

Jared, the checkerboard ones aren't feminine at all. I've never seen a guy wear earrings like the dice ones though. It's hard to tell what they look like on you and help/hinder your passing with just an ear shot.
