Jamiep

My first connection with female clothing was when I was about 8 years old with family & relatives at a lake resort north of my birth city of Toronto, Canada. I was born in 1941.

One day everyone had to be in a dress up contest & a male cousin & I were forced by our parents into  wearing girls dresses. My cousin & I hated wearing a borrowed girls dress. Two years later the same relatives were visiting our home, cousin & I found our mothers talking in a bedroom & we noticed some lingerie around & we both picked an item and put it on. I never forgot my aunts silky satiny  bra & the feel, it was so cool when I put it on, the mothers thought it was cute. I had a younger sister, so through my teen years when the family was out I could borrow some of her clothing and crossdress.

Having found opportunities to  crossdress from male me to female, your mind becomes haunted with  questions & anxiety...I shouldn't be doing this. I must have sinned so God won't like me. Guilt. But then again, my Protestant religion upbringing says God loves his children & is forgiving. Then I don't feel so bad. As a cd friend of mine says, this was the 50's, no support groups and afraid to tell anyone & fear of being caught.

Once I started working the want to dress girly vanished like it never was & stayed away for almost 25 years. In the mid 80's I had to buy a lingerie item  for my Mom on her Christmas wish list. That put me in a reconnect by being in the lingerie dept., so I bought  a couple of things for myself. After that occasionally over the years  going to various dept. stores & fashion shops I slowly built up lingerie & a few dresses, tops, skirts & wowie pantyhose.

While dating & shortly after marrying Carolyn, having met in a Ski Club, we went to Halloween dances & twice I dressed up as a girl.  For me to cross dress  had been put so far back in the recess of my mind that  I had forgotten that  part of my life even existed and as some of the recent happenings triggered the past into the foreground I was remiss in not telling Carolyn this part of me existed at one time. That is the why I didn't tell Carolyn and for that I am sorry I didn't apprise her as it wasn't fair.

After internet searches in 2001 I discovered breast forms & a club in the GLBTQI village on Church St. in Toronto that was set up for cd, trans & so's, called Wild Side. I purchased my first set of breast forms, got a book on how to do make & cosmetics. I had my first makeover at WS & couldn't believe the face looking back in the mirror, I said, "Wow!" Jamie was born! WS has introduce me to many friends of all colors of the Pride stripe, the support has helped in my understand, education and growth as well as bringing my wife along into acceptance of Jamie, although it wasn't easy and I am blessed to have the amazing Carolyn as my wife. The internet has been huge in my further development. I am excited and love my life at 70 years of age & still have my slim teen figure.

If I can be of assistance to anyone coming through gender identity, I look forward sharing our slice of life here.

Jamie here...

just to say how I found this amazing forum. I have seen many vblogs on Youtube of trans people. MeghansLife, I have seen all her videos, exchanged a few messages, she is such a down to earth, humorous, charming and classy lady. A search on her name led me here, I read her complete journey here, like many other trans persons stories I have read on the internet over the years, she took me through so many emotions. Meghan likes to help people and is very positive person, I believe I am very similar that way. After reading her blog I have seen the many loving, positive and supportive responses from people here and this just impressed me that the people here have the right attitude that will make me feel safe. I have been on several forums in the past, not well regulated, names, accusations, flaming to the point I finally gave up going on forums. I like Meghan's expression, "Don't just live your life, love your life." I am looking forward to being here.

Express yourself.

Hugs

Hi Jamie, it's nice to meet you! Listen to me! There are Aussies coming. A drove of them. I'll try to hold them here at Boston, but you're probably going to be on your own. One if by sea, and, well, we know they're coming by sea. See you around, hugs, Devlyn

Thank you for the heads up ;). I love your avatar, I feel like I have an angel looking over me . My cd best friends I refer to as my Sisters in the Sisterhood.

All good things to you sister.

Devlyn,

Looking good! :) I have some cousins in Boston. Okay, I'll get my fleet out north of the 49th...oh, but I like Aussies. I hear I may meet some on a cruise to Alaska with my wife in a few months.

Land .. Ho....!!  Splice the main brace.  Do I smell a Boston Tea Party? ? ?

Hi Jamie,
As promised, a very big warm Aussie welcome to Susan's family. As you have probably already found from your lurking the Aussie Mafia pack are nothing but a sweet loving circle of conservative girls. We spand our days knitting, baking scones and drinking tea at the local Country Womens Association branch. Thats the real Australian Goverment in residence. The Labour Party think they are in power and the Liberals think they are the opposition. Just politely, they don't have a clue as to whats's going on. It's the CWA that governs Oz. No fuss, no bother, we just get on a do the work.

The rest of the girls will be by a little later on. Still early morning here and a girl has to do what a girl has to do ...... and look beautiful before she heads out in the bright beautiful world.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful lifes journey with us. I'm constantly amazed how those repressed thoughts and feeling just keep popping back, (some at the most inconvenient moment) and affirm our identity. You have a lovely outlook  and attitude on life, although you may be nearing the more mature stage of life, you certainly aren't allowing that to influence your character. You are so blessed to have an understanding wife.

Hope to hear more from you in the time to come, so sit back, grab some needles, make a 'cuppa' and join in.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

And of course, a big welcome from over here on the Left Coast! Great to see a few another Canadian on board. Watch out for those Aussie's they seem to be everywhere and to think I used to believe all they had was Foster's beer way back when. They have become so much more interesting since I've joined this site.  ;)

Catherine Sarah,

I was thinking of mention tea party but it might have been taken as political and didn't want to get turfed out here lol.

The Aussie Mafia, sweet sounds nice, hope they will take to liberal me...oops there is the politics again. I don't knit but do most of the rest of around the house stuff and tea is my comfort drink, that works.

You look Beautiful!

A pleasure sharing what got me to my female identity. As Meghan says we all have a story to tell. Reading each others helps us interrelate. I am basically a happy person that percolates an upbeat attitude, which is everything. I feel about 15 years younger than my real age, healthy and energetic.

Carolyn is a petite 4'7" (I am 5'1"), she is 15 years younger than me. She says big things come in small packages, like dynamite, and I am Dynamite! That she is. Pretty cute, caring, intelligent, keeps me grounded, my Rock!

I appreciate your witty, informative and gracious words of welcome. Look forward to connecting again.

A cousin of mine, one day she said you can never get enough hugs and I don't have my days quota yet, so give me a hug.

Big Hugs

Jamie

Halo Kelly,

Thanks for the warm welcome (seeing a weather forecast showing it is in the 20's to 30 C means you are warm). You radiate Beauty in your pic avatar.

Seeing as you referred to as Mafia, reminds me of when my wife & I were on our honeymoon in St. Lucia, we had dinner in an Italian restaurant named Capones, the bill came in a violin case. We had a real laugh about that.

I hope to get to Oz some day, I do communicate with some people there via an interest forum.

Cheers

grrl1nside,

I like your username. Good to see a Canadian on board, a west coaster. I have a Sis & her family living in Vancouver and a cousin in Victoria. I have family on both coasts, my Dad was born in Newfoundland, so I have lots of relative there.

Fosters, I remember seeing that advertised a lot when I was watching the America's Cup yacht race and the Aussies won.

I am overwhelmed by the lovely reception I am receiving here, especially from the Aussie sisters. Wow!

Enjoy.
Hugs

Hi Jamie,

Thank you for those very kind words. Not probably one of my best photos ever. Taken on my old Nokia phone in poor light. Nevertheless. The reference to the Tea Party was for the benefit of Australia's Charge d'Affaire in Boston, Devlyn. She is really an Aussie, but was born in the wrong country. We are working to change that for her. Apart from that, she is still a beautiful and gracious woman.

I love your attitude. It's a winning one that will take you a long way, in relative safety. You are really blessed to have Carolyn as you Rock. I admire her strength and resolve. And as for Meghan, wouldn't you just love to wrap her up and put her on your mantle piece? Truly a very gracious woman indeed. So is Kelly.

I'm sure we'll hear more of each other as time goes by. So have a big :icon_hug: for all of us in Oz.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

G'day Catherine

My pleasure. You mention your pic was in poor light, I like it because it gave a soft light image of your face.

Ah, got you about Devlyn & the tea party.

Carolyn, I didn't blame her being annoyed when I went to Wild Side on a Saturday night. A lady on the WS site forum told her story of being married to her husband cross dresser & she coached me via posts about backing off talking to Carolyn about cd, that if interested she may find info on her own. That she did because I found her, making comments, stating info., some judgements and asking me questions that I answered to help her. This ended up being a non contentious comfortable transition into acceptance. She still doesn't understand the reason why. WS brought in a Karaoke dj, Carolyn likes to sing & she started going to WS and met all my friends. The cd dj & Carolyn hit it off, get along & we have lots of laughs together. We have gone out to the gay village a lot over the years, to restaurants, night clubs and pubs that have Karaoke. Carolyn has been involved in some cd forums. Our marriage is all the stronger for our involvement in the GLBTQI community, learning so much more about ourselves and passing on to Carolyn info. I find that defines my right to be the girl I am.

Meghan, yes, well said, would love to do that. Kelly, I look forward to reading about my new sisterhood life journeys here, that bond us together.

My Toronto sisterhood are all bigger than me, travel as a group and I feel safe. Nothing bad has happened to us so far & hope it stays that way. We live about a half hour drive west of the city.

All your welcomes have hit my heart and made me Happy!

I love Oz accents.  :icon_hug:

Be safe, healthy & Happy too!
Don't stop believing.
Hugs

Hi Jamie D

I noticed that commonality, female variation of my given name. Perhaps that is what a lot of us do, makes it easy choosing a username. Have to get an extension in there to separate us. I will be glad when I can get an avatar pic up and see the difference between all the Jamie's when we sign off.

See you around  8).
