That's heartbreaking.
I find it really hard to understand society violence against LGBTs. Here in my home city we have the odd bogan that'll call you a ->-bleeped-<- and some really ->-bleeped-<- family rejections - but for the most part you almost make more friends cause we have a lot of hipster kids and its 'cool' to have LGBT friends.
I swear they collect us like pokemon.

the more macho and backward a society is the more its people hate TS.  Lots of African, Arab and East Euro countries prove the point. 
Add fundamentalist religions to the mix and its no wonder TS are persecuted.
