Hey everyone just thought I'd introduce myself.

My names Jo and I'm just embarking on the beginning of what I'm imagining will be a long and complicated road.

A bit of history:

For as long as I can remember I've had a very feminine side which I've varied between feeling comfortable and uncomfortable with. This included dressing up in secret when I was younger and also bringing this into past relationships. I had some very understanding partners.

As time has progressed however I've really thought about who I am and my body and really feel as though what I have isn't the right one. This currently on my mind on a 24/7 basis and driving me a bit nuts lol.

I have all sorts of things going on in my head:

I often wonder what the consequences of following this path would be for me.

Would I look any good, how would I afford all the hair removal, is the hair on my head good enough to get away with (very slight thinning on top). I have so many things going round up there it sometimes feels as if I'm going to explode.

Anyway I've got in contact with the local gender identity services so I guess that's the first step.

Feel utterly crap about how I currently look though. Went through a phase of denial in which I made myself as manly as possible, weight lifting, very visible tattoo's etc. If only I could turn back the clock on the tats lol. Muscle I  can get rid of. 

Anyway I hope some of that makes sense.

Would be great to meet other people to talk to and become friends with.

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Congratulations on making a good move to a therapist. That will take most of the complicated bit out for your journey. It will be a long road, probably take you the rest of your life. But that's the good bit.

Don't worry about the externals just yet, get the internals done first. Anyway the tats can be lasered off.
