I am sure that we have all noticed that a sizable number of mtfs have either a police or a military background.    We also know that the reason for this is that we hope that some Sergeant-major, Chief Petty Officer or police sergeant will knock all that female nonsense out of our heads and make men of us.  It doesn't work though it can take people a long time to accept this.

I wonder if the ftms go through something similar?   Do they say to themselves 'look you are female you will just have to accept that.  Now go and put on a nice dress and start ballet lessons.'   Some how I don't think so.   We mtfs know society's great and shameful secret; namely that females are seen as having come second in the great lottery of life, and that most men are delighted to have won first prize as it were.

Both my sister and mother have stated openly that they would like the freedoms of men, but very few men would like to accept female restrictions.

I would venture that's more a cultural issue than anything, dependant on where you are in the world, and doesn't hold true for everywhere.

NO NO NO - that maybe for some, but definitely NOT ALL! Do you know how many service members cross-dress on their leave times? without some sort of mental infraction like a couple that have been in the news for shootings? A lot more than we think...
but that's a different thread...

I think the thing about FTMs and even lesbians in such services is that it goes right back to the age old discussion that females that look like act like and/or sound like males ( ie butch) will be accepted better than males that are feminine or becoming females. I've heard of a couple women in those fields that essentially become one of the guys by simply being dang good at what they do. So I imagine that its not hard for FTM's to do so that way either. Changing names and having surgeries though are a technicality of whether they are allowed or not in their service codes... which for the US Military (and a good majority of other world powers) still applies as a disqualification just as much as any MTF that starts their transition while in.... until the rules change. One loophole would be to have a name change to a non-gendered name, but surgery can't be hidden from any physical fitness review. Para-military organizations and local and state Police agencies may be different as they go by their own rules, which vary by company.  As Devlyn and I have said for years, it shouldn't matter whats between your legs, what God you worship, or who you love, as long as you can get the dang job done.

I was going to reply from the perspective of an FTM, but I honestly am not clear on what the point or question in your post actually is - are there military/police FTMs, do FTMs come from a background of female social "conformity", are FTMs trying to get "male privileges", etc.?
