Unfortunately I am NOT kidding!! Two state police cars and four officers were here about a half hour ago because they got a complaint that I had posted a video on youtube today threatening to kill someone, and that the person who filed the complaint with them felt very threatened by me. I told them that I have been on youtube for several years but I have just recently come out as transgender. I told them that I have been threatened a lot by some people who used to be friends of mine until it kind of became clear to them that I wouldn't change and start dressing like a girl. And they have harassed and threatened me for that and posted videos of them driving by my house just for their own kicks. The officer who did most of the talking was nice enough and said that they do sometimes get used as tools for harassment of others, but they would still have to investigate me and my account. I asked them if it would affect my getting my name changed and told them that I did post a video talking about the fact that I've filed for a name change. They just asked me what I'll be changing my name to and that was it. I know that these former "friends" of mine really hated me in an extreme way, but I never expected to get in trouble with the law over being trans. I know I act crazy online because I like to do silly things on youtube, acting like different characters, just being ridiculous, purely for the comedy of it. But in no way is anything I do, not even my serious vlogs, no way is it anything threatening, illegal, dangerous, or otherwise wrong. I just can't believe this sh*t is happening!  :'(

How awful, I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. I hope the police go back to these people who made the complaint and threaten them that they could face charges for wasting police time.

I'm just really scared of getting in trouble for god knows what?? Or not getting my name change approved because of complaints being made against me.  :'(

Not to be a butt, but....

Did you post a video threatening to kill someone, or not? If you did not, then your ex-friends will be in trouble for filing a false police report. If you did...well I'm not sure if that is legal or not in your area, but it would raise some eyebrows.

At any rate, in the future please extend a generous helping of "ignore the ->-bleeped-<-ers" to your ex-friends. Their kind of attention will only get you in trouble. If they become persistent, and interfere with your life materially, file complaints (to the police) about them.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

No, of course not. I haven't threatened anyone. The video I posted this morning was of me in a nice shirt and tie, tooting my own horn about looking sharp. I don't normally do that sort of thing, I'm used to feeling bad about myself and having low self esteem, but I made a little light hearted video about looking good and feeling good. That's the video they complained about and said they felt threatened by.

They will likely have to deal with charges of filing a false complaint. Police do not like idiots making up stuff to use the police to harass others. I know it sucks the cops came over but sounds like they were cool once they saw there wasn't anything to this.

sounds like it will work itself out, if not file another report with the police. If you are on the right side of the law the police are pretty nice and do their job to help you. I think that if someone files a report saying that they were threatened the police are required to investigate its just standard procedure , its nothing personal. lying to police is a rather serious offense. they will either get a fine or some jail time, see Karma prevails in this situation.

When someone files a false complaint, the nature and severity of the punishment is equal to as if the crime happened.  For example, they filed a report against you for threatening to kill someone. If this is blatantly untrue, then the person filing the false report will be charged a felony.

I used to be a police officer

Seems like a good ol' fashion case of haters gonna hate, fortunately the cops seemed cool an this situation, while embarrassing, should prevent this sort of harassment from occurring again because the cops 'have their number' keep doing your thing - the best way to exact revenge in this situation is to do just that an live well. Hope everything has been great for you since then, Peace :icon_cool:

How horrible and embarrasing! It sounds as though the police were professional to some degree and that you handled yourself well. I suppose it is the bestt of what can modestly be called a very uncomfirtable situation.
