Latest Victim Beaten, Strangled

LINKFriends of a transgender San Francisco resident murdered last week are holding a vigil in the Mission District. The community says there's been a number of these murders recently.
Ruby Rodriguez's murder has raised fears in the transgender community because there have also been other attacks targeting transgenders in the Bay Area -- some of them, unsolved murders.
A picture of Ruby Rodriquez is now part of the memorial montage in the office of the transgender support group EL-LA. The others were also either murdered or died from AIDS.
Alexandra Byerly knew the Nicaraguan immigrant.
Alexandra Byerly, EL-LA Coordinator: "She was young, 27 years old and full of life and she had lots of dreams and she was at the wrong place at the wrong time."
Rodriquez's body was found early Friday morning on the sidewalk at Indiana and Cesar Chavez streets. She had been beaten and strangled.
