Just wondering if anyone's car insurance went up after changing their gender maker to Male on their driver's license?

I just ask my car insurance company if my insurance would go up since I changed my gender marker to male on my license. I'm just waiting for a response from them now. I'm hoping it doesn't go up, I can't afford it.

in UK and Europe a decision has been made that charging male and femele different rates is illegal.  seem silly to me if the statistics are that female drivers have less accidents.

however there is also massive insurance fraud involving lawyers and crooks to claim high injury damages from whiplash from very low speed bumps so that now we have to drive very careful in case the car in front stops suddenly to cause a minor knock and bring on a claim for whiplash.

Really? That's not a bad thing, at least it stays the same.

I just got a replay back and it's says my insurance has decrease $10.70.

Oh yeah, mine definitely went up.  Big time.  I can't remember exactly how much but it was a major shock.  I'm also under 25, so in two years it will go down.  Something magic must happen I suppose.  Perhaps the cautious driver fairy will sprinkle safety powder on me for my birthday.

Totally kidding about that.  I just find it ridiculous that males under 25 pay significantly higher because of statistics.  I'm the safest and most cautious driver I know besides my mom.  People hate riding with me.

Good thing yours will decrease.  Older than 25 I suppose (30ish maybe)?

I'm 25, so mine will probably stay the same.  I think it makes sense.  Insurance companies raise the rates based on the probability they'll have to pay out.  That probability is higher for young males.  I've also seen it based on location.  In New Hampshire I was paying $150 a month for insurance, but here in the middle of the desert it's $65 a month.  There's less of a chance I'm going to hit another car when there are so few cars on the road.
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
Why bounce around to the same damn song?

@Adio: That sucks your insurance went up. I was paying about $160-$173 a month for 4 months and 2 months off as a female driver. Then I took collusion off and it was much cheaper.

That is ridiculous having males under 25 pay higher price.

@Devin87: $65 is not bad. Do you pay for so many month and get a break in between?

When I worked for GEICO and Allstate they do tend to raise the prices on younger men than women.

Personally, I find the idea a bit idiotic but the best course of action is to ask to speak to your insurance underwriter

Right now I'm doing every month, but a few months ago I accidentally paid like five months in advance, so I just started having to pay again...

due to all the whiplash scam claims its now $3-6000 a year for youngsters under 21.   That is 25% of a typical young persons wage.
if they want a dangerous car the rates are much higher.  if hey have a few points on hteir licence they can't get insurance and driving is illegal.
