QuoteLARGO - No demonstrators were in the front courtyard on Monday. No news trucks parked outside.

And the City Commission secretary fielded just a handful of calls.

"It's just another day at City Hall," said Norton "Mac" Craig, assistant city manager, who was appointed acting city manager a month ago.

The department of "they" have won this one.  I hope Stanton can now live the life SHE wants.

More of the story, here.

Some quotes from those who spoke at the second meeting.

Quote from: The Doctor"It usually goes back to childhood. There is a strong, intense discomfort with their biological sex. . . . It's not something one can change. In the '40s and '50s, psychiatrists tried to change it. People set it aside. But it came back stronger than ever. Since the '60s, the treatment has been to help transgender people live with it.

Quote from: The Other Doctor"Mr. Stanton has been encouraged to act out and be a woman. Do we encourage the alcoholic and the pedophile to act out on their desires? You'd be setting the standard that no matter how sick your choices are, you can be employed by the city of Largo."

A pedophile is a danger to children.  An alcoholic can be a danger to other drivers or if abusive, close loved ones, but otherwise they are allowed to "act out their desires".  A transsexual may inconvenience a few people when they transition and perhaps ruin a few relationships, but if they are not allowed to transition, the damage can be far greater to themselves and others.  There IS a BIG difference between these comparisons.
