Transgender music teacher resigns after parents complains about her off-work activities
http://lexiecannes.wordpress.com/2012/03/27/transgender-music-teacher-resigns-after-parents-complains-about-her-off-work-activites/THE GUERRILLA ANGEL REPORT — For several years trans woman Cristina Cracraft, worked as an elementary school choir and music teacher by day and by night, a drag performer known as "Taffy Shalamar". However, when parents began complaining about the latter, she came to a settlement with the school district and resigned.
While Sante Fe (NM) school officials are not commenting on the settlement matter, Cracraft believes being pressured to resign is a big deal: "I think this is a woman's rights issue. It's a trans rights issue." But Cracraft is just moving on from this, to another state, probably to teach again, but her drag show performances will continue she says.

"Every teacher has a right to privacy," said Cristina Cracraft, who performs as 'Taffy Shalamar." '"There's no reason for [my students] to know. Just because there's a reason for them not to know what I do does not necessarily make what I do wrong either."
Cracraft identified herself as a transsexual. For the last several years she has taught music and choir classes as a woman at Gonzales Elementary School, which she said was never an issue until late last year.

http://www.kob.com/article/stories/S2555104.shtml?cat=504The forced resignation of a Santa Fe teacher begs the question, how much privacy is a public educator entitled to.
Christina Cracraft believes she was forced to resign because parents and the district's administration could not accept the fact that she is a transsexual who also dances in burlesque shows.
"I'm a school teacher, a pianist, and a showgirl," Cracraft said.
Being a teacher at Gonzales Community School by day and a showgirl by night may seem like a paradox, but Cracraft said she made it work and her employer, Santa Fe Public Schools, were encouraging at first.
