After six hours of heated debate before a packed meeting, it took city commissioners in Largo, Florida six minutes to fire transgender city manager Steve Stanton March 23 on a 5-2 vote.

"I believe the citizens of Largo are outraged by what their commission has done," said Karen Doering, senior counsel for the National Center for Lesbian Rights in Florida, who is representing Stanton.
