TransEpiscopal also has a yahoo group (of the same name) with members from the US, Canada, and the UK. Because the Episcopal Church's General Convention is this July, there will be a lot of coverage on the blog and  list. General Convention happens every three years, and at the last one, there was a huge amount of progress for trans people, including clergy and church employee nondiscrimination policies. At this point, there are a number of trans clergy, including those who came out during the multi-year path to ordination. Not bad for a supposedly stodgy mainstream denomination!  🙂

Integrity, which is the GLBT organization in the Episcopal Church will have a new DVD out and running on June first.  The DVD version will be given to all of the Bishops and Delegates to the national General Convention and a will be on their U-tube site on June 1, 2012.  The name of the production is "Out Of The Box and includes many of the TG people currently serving the church and issues we TG's have.

I have personally met both Bishop Gene Robinson who is openly gay, and Bishop Mary Glasspool who is lesbian is one of my bishops.  They are both very anxious for us to be part of the entire church.  To quote Bishop Mary "what part of the word ALL is so hard for us to get".  "All the sacraments for alll the people!!!"

I was raised as an episcopalian, am now nonreligious. The church services are relatively traditional, but there are many very "liberal" espicopalians who are actually all about "love and tolerance." Of course there are more conservative congregations too, but the most hard line people all left (or at least stopped donating money) after Gene Robison was consecrated.

General Convention passed a resolution saying that trans people can be ordained. See the Trans Episcopal blog at this link and others around the post, for pictures of trans clergy and lay people who helped bring about this amazing change.
