Being transgender in America

Joining Melissa Harris-Perry are author Kate Bornstein, Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, and Mel Wymore, a Democratic candidate for the New York City Council, as they discuss gender identity and discrimination against the LGBT community.

Nice piece.  Good for a basic explanation of our plight without getting too personal.  As mentioned at the end of the piece, when people think of LGBT, they immediately think of an affluent gay white guy.  Also mentioned that transgender members do approve all of the LGBT goals such as marriage and DADT, little of those benefits made for the LGB trickle down to the transgender when it comes down to it.

I thought it was an excellent discussion that hit on several important issues rather well  :)   Got my thumbs up vote

Very interesting, and not just a quick sound bite interview.

I've listened to it.

It is certainly an American program directed at America. I can't see any faults with it as all.

It's just so sad, that we here still seem to be in the curiosity stage. (Presumably our ruling classes have decided that we're not a threat. Now they just need to figure out how to present their new found 'liberalism', leaving themselves open to backing off if it all goes horribly wrong).

Was this program on a main stream channel and a decent time?

I didn't see it on TV, watched it online last night. It originally aired at 11 AM on Sunday, on MSNBC, which is a mainstream channel.
