Certainly I need to leave S.C. and start a new and fresh life. :D Aside from the trans-friendly places over there Anime Expo takes place there and I need to be close to it!   :D

In San Francisco, you never know when you might bump into Mahsa the Disco Shark.
Do you speak of the catty gay man in a woman's body? (Isn't that what she said about herself at one point?lolol) XD

I think she goes to the same clinic as I do but I'm not entirely sure. So I've been... I don't know. Keeping a lookout, I suppose. For better or worse. :/

I know Mahsa rubbed some people the wrong way, but I thought she was refreshing.

I got weepy when she left.  I still miss her.  I still miss the makeup lessons I could have received had she stayed.

Yeah she could be a real bitch at times but I agree with alot of what she was saying.

With Los Angeles, as with any big city, (LA is considered to be and functions as a big city, although it really isn't) I would think you get a little bit of everything: "We're not in Kansas any more Toto".  Yet, this could also mean your also likely to run into right-wing wackos there.  Is SF really more expensive than LA?  I ask because I too one day want (hope!) to relocate to Pacific big city to be free of east coast weather  :P and to inter-act to a much greater degree with those such as me.  Nobody in his or her right mind is going to question the fact SF is at least one of the most GBLT friendly places in the world.  Is the the cost of living really so high in every part of this town?
Well wishes to all. Patrice

I use to own a RV and parked in san fran for free.. don't get one too big though they are hard to park and find spaces.. now if you had a partner with one yo could each take turns in it whiloe the other was out and about.. that would be like totally cheap and cool.. sure beats paying for rent..
I'm an Amazon womyn + very butch + respecting MWMF since 1999 unless invited. + I AM A HIPPIE

Well idk about everywhere in SF but the places that i've looked into were pretty high. I mean yeah i'm sure you could find a cheap place in SF but it might be in a bad part of town and i don't think that's safe.

I love the fashion scene so it was either NY or LA for me haha.   ;D

I heard of a guy getting an RV to help save for his top surgery and he recovered in it.  I thought that was so cool and something I should think about.  I've never been in one before.

Yeah, SF is that expensive.  Outlaying areas are not much cheaper, it's just that you get more space for your money - but start tossing communing costs in there, and it adds up.

And its not just the LGBTXYZ thing either, lots and lots of people what to live here for all sorts of reasons.  It's a financial capital, a major world arts center, a high-tech hub, center for people into mountain biking, road biking, sailing, surfing - all that stuff.  Berkeley, Stanford, Academy of Art, digital design, Pixar all bring people in and people interested in those fields.

Just be sure you have real skills, not just a degree.

It's hard to park an RV in any place you'd feel safe to park it.

Some of the neighborhoods my daughter has lived in SF over the last five years

Marina dist, Cow Hollow, Laurel Heights, The Haight, a couple places in the Richmond dist, she likes to move around when the rent goes up to high on her, but she loves SF and does not want to ever leave :)

Well the first 3 are just about the 3 most expensive neighborhoods in the City.  I'm more a North Beach, Mission, Inner Sunset kind of girl, but other than the real ghetto areas in the extreme south all the neighborhoods are pretty nice.

And I assume that your daughter is not there because she is TG, she's there because highly desirable places are highly desirable to lots and lots of people for lots of reasons.

According to the 2010 census, the city of Los Angeles has approximately 3.8 million residents in an area of 470 square miles.  The county of Los Angeles has 9.8 million residents in an area of 4,060 square miles, with at least 15 cities with a population over 100,000.

Los Angeles is a big city, but it is also very diverse and spread out.

Yes, that is what I meant; I really should have been more clear:  Rather than a single big city, LA is much more a network of towns and neighborhoods.  It certainly IS much more diverse than any other major big city in the US.  Unlike New York, Chicago, Boston, SF, etc you need your own wheels to get around there.

Actually, I would settle for for LA or San Francisco in a heartbeat, lol.  I just want to get out of Rhode Island.  Although it also gets way too cold and snows there, even Boston would be a major improvement.
Well wishes to all. Patrice

She first moved there when she was going out with a spoiled brat rich boy...hense the Marina and Cow Hollow locations. She stayed after they broke up because she LOVES the city, its also close for me to visit and stay with her as I live near lake Tahoe and cant get enough of SF :)
If a person can just live there for a bit and likes the "feel" of SF...they will try and find a way to afford it I have found. The Bay Area is spendy no matter where you are and my dream someday is to live in Mill Valley along the ridge to the west...truly a dream mind you, cuz I sure cant afford that area anytime soon :(

Fine... I'll just continue to sit on my bed, alone, day in, day out, in San Francisco... friendless... -cries- XD
that is so sad, message me if you want to meet up for drinks or a movie

I work in san francisco and live in the east bay, rent is less in some of the east bay areas and they are still not that bad.
I pay 850 a month for my 2 bedroom apartment and one room only has tropical plants in it...
you rally can rent a room for 400 to 500 a month if you look around.
and jobs in SF pay enough to afford higher rent.
where I work had a guy that was not trans, but came to work in dresses often...
and lots of places in SF to work at if you don't fit in in other places
