I was wondering, being a tall individual (with large feet) hasn't really deterred me from wearing high heels ranging in heel lengths about 5 - 6.5 inch heels and even considering going higher. I am just under 5'11 and when in my favourite strappy heels, I feel i am definitely taller but it also gives me a lot more confidence. It's weird, I know that there are naturally tall cisgendered girls out there but the ones I have known are deterred from wearing high heels as they have had issues with men feeling uncomfortable with them being shorter than the girl. Funnily enough, I've had a few men displaying a little discomfort at my height when in heels but I always reassure them that everyone is the same height in bed ;)

Regardless, the question I would like to ask is are you deterred from wearing heels just because you are tall?
Also what are your alternatives to wearing super high heels? Kitten heels? Sandles? Mules?

OMG I LOVE HEELS!!!  I just wear something that doesn't have a platform or a very little one. My problem is my womens size 14 feet :(

I'm 5'5 and I will only wear heels at funerals and weddings.

I cannot stand them.

I love heels. I'm 5' 9" ish, but as Axelle said how long you wear them id the killer. I went to a fashionable horse race event and wore 4" heels for about 5 hours. I was crippled. I can't drive in heels, so I have a pair of flats in the car and i have a pair of fold up ballet slippers in my handbag to walk around in when I go to or leave the venue.

I am 6'2" in the old money and love heels!  Unfortunately my bad back doesn't like them a whole lot.  If they are well made I can wear them for a while, but no more than a couple of hours, and then 4" maximum.

the longest I've worn heels ever were about 10 hours and that was my first time ever in heels. I learnt a very important lesson that day, NEVER WEAR HIGH HEELS FOR LONGER THAN 4 HOURS TOPS! However, I have walked in heels for a long distance -for about 2 kilometres, and often go nightclubbing in them. However, I find heels that are open toe/peep toe or any really that are your typical stilettos are much more painful for me to walk on for longer periods as theres too much strain for me to keep the heel on as it just keeps slipping off -despite being my right size. I find that if there are straps or something like:

is much more comfortable as it feels more of an extension of my feet rather than as a shoe? Hmmm maybe its just me.

Hey Dani,

I'm 6 ft and I LOVE heels, now I don't wear them all the time but when I do I feel confident !. I'm pretty much into every heel height from 1 to 6 inches in height. I have found anything higher is beautiful to look at but too dangerous to wear unless your a celeb who can afford them stylish 7 - 10 inch heels like Lady Gaga wears.

For me i've never felt deterred to to wear heels regardless of how tall I am nor anyone I have ever dated. I think that if YOU like them then wear them. I also feel they do give a boost of confidence as well and they make legs look incredible.

However like many others after a few hours id rather slip into something flat and more comfortable just to give my feet a break. I don't think heels are something id wear for a full 7 + hours cause it'd cause extreme pain for me.

Best of luck with your shoes though :-)

Btw love the shoe pic you posted !! their gorgeous :-D

I rarely wear high heels because they're really not good for the feet and legs, but I love the way I look in them when I do. I'm long waisted, so heels make my legs looks long enough in proportion, even though, at 5'11", they put me up there a bit. These days there seems to be a lot more taller young women than when I was younger, in America, at least. I only wear heels to places where other women are wearing them, though. For me, that's fairly rare.

Argh...

I'm already a head or more taller than my partner/girlfriend.  C'est la vie, I suppose.

I am 5'6 (which isn't really super tall) BUT I love heels. In the winter I wear high heeled booties and when summer comes around I have a bunch of five inch platform wedges that I like to wear. They make me look taller than my boyfriend, but I don't care.

I think they're great at making your legs look nice.

That's what I've heard too.

I'm about 5'5", which isn't very tall, probably around average. Anyway, I love heels. I think they look awesome.
But I've worn heels for extensive periods of time, and I didn't have any problems with them. When I was done, I was exhausted, but I was fine after a few minutes. So, just by that I think I'll wear them even more.

The only problem that I have with them is that they're not really for doing anything other than looking good or walking. So, I kinda feel limited when wearing them, like I'm somehow less able to do stuff.

I'm 6'1" and I'm OBSESSED with shoes.
I hope to be a shoe designer one day actually, for ciswoman and transwomen alike!
But yeah, my height doesn't stop me from wearing heels, and not just heels, PLATFORMS girl.
I love myself a nice pair of platforms to the grocery store. :)

I am only 5'6" and would love to wear heels at times.   But my biggest problem buying shoes is that I am 60 lbs overweight and wear size 13 men's shoes which translates to about size 14 to 15 in women's shoes.   I can get by wearing size 12 women's if they are open toed.   And a narrow heel is not really good for me.

??? Now try finding a pretty pair of women's shoes size 12 to size 15 at Payless or Walmart.  Or even finding women's shoes that size at all.

I love heels.  about 3".  But unfortunately in my profession it is unwise to wear them.  Even a chihuahua can cause you to break an ankle or even a neck.

I'm rather tall  :)  Anything over 2" is too much heel for me and I tend to prefer something with a wedge heel  :)

I absolutely adore high heels.  At 5' 6" and slender, I find myself gravitating mostly to 3 and 4 inch heels.  I work an office job where I wear high heels all day everyday.  I know a lot of people say that wearing heels so much causes them problems, but that hasn't been my experience.  I'm fortunate to wear women's size 10 shoes, so finding fashionable, good quality 3 to 4 inch shoes is relatively easy.

I'm also a competitive pool player.  I compete against mostly men, but there are plenty of women in the competitive pool community here in Portland.  I really enjoy standing out in the pool halls, standing tall in my 4 inch heels, waist length hair, pretty clothes and hot pink pool stick.  The boys often admonish me to trade in my heels for a pair of flats; they say that I'll never be a great pool player if I insist on wearing heels.  I see it as my mission to prove them wrong... and I'm getting to be a damn good pool player.

So yes, I wear heels with relish.  I put them on in the morning before I leave for work, work all day, turn up at the pool hall in the evening and compete all night.  It isn't unusual for me to wear a pair of 4 inch heels for 15 or 16 hours in a day.  And I'm eager to get up the next morning and do it all again.  I guess that makes me a freak of nature.  Sweet!

Peace,
Miharu

I'm 6'2" and wear heels.  But the highest I go is 3 inches.  I really don't care if I stand out or not, because if I'm in them, I'll OWN IT!!

And besides, the way I look at it, is I'm not coming this far only to not wear what I want to wear. After all, that's what I did most my life, and we see how THAT worked out!  LOL.
