Uniforms

Super excited right now I finally got a chance to talk to my boss for the first time in months. Soon I will be getting my male uniform instead of the female one. She was really cool about the whole thing and just reminded me that they have a strict clean shaven policy for after i get facial hair. Can't wait till I get my new uniforms.

That is SO fantastic! I'm glad you were able to not only tell your boss but receive the respect/support that any person needs especially when transitioning. The whole facial hair comment was pretty damn cool. Obviously she is seeing you just like any other guy. I wish more people were like her!

Yeah she's a pretty cool boss I was really nervous at first to tell her but she was super cool about it and I get my new uniforms on friday because thats the soonest i can get to the main office or else I could have gotten them already

That's awesome.  I love it when people are way more accepting than you thought they'd be.  My work has gender neutral uniforms (just a polo shirt that's the same for everyone) but I had to ask to have my chosen name printed on my name tag this summer.  I was worried about it because I heard the big boss didn't like lgbtq people, but not only did he order Devin on my name tag (which is good for him because it turns out I'm going to be able to get it legally changed before I even start for the summer), he also called me he the entire time during the training seminar I went to and at one point when I was standing with a group of guys he called our entire group "gentlemen".  And he did it all without seeming like it was the least bit weird or uncomfortable.  It's a great surprise when stuff like that happens.  It gives me hope for the world.

I was super lucky.  I was starting at a new location (same agency) right when I was coming out at work and I told the new boss and she was SUPER supportive and has probably been my biggest support at work.  When I got my name changed as SOON as she found out I was on my way to get my paperwork she immediately emailed head of HR to ask how I needed to go about getting my name updated on my information and forwarded it to me and made sure I knew to go to her if I needed any help with it or had any other questions.  It's been great.  I was super scared to come out at work, but I'm glad it was this location that I got to, they've been very supportive.
