Having kids, the "right man" ect...

I'm just curious to know why people seem to think that you have to get married and have a kid or two and then *everything* will be alright. Gay, straight, lesbian, trans, whatever. One day you'll meet that special woman/man and then you'll stop being gay/lesbian/trans/depressed/ect. Especially if you're trans. God forbid you get rid of the offending sex organs, you might meet the right person and want kids!  It's almost hilarious.

My bet is general ignorance of the subjects, or a stubborn ability to not believe what science tells them. 

I'm betting my mom might pull that card for me being trans (she knows I like girls, and thinks I'm a lesbian 'cause I said I like girls and can't see myself in a relationship with a male for the rest of my life [depends on if I transition], and is cool with that).  Though she might surprise and I hope she does.

first I dont get why it would change you to be perfectly straight first.. makes no sense, even when I have heard something simular before top surgery my parrent where like "oh but what if you want kids someday?" bla bla. but its probably the settle down phrase thing..

second then I dont get the whole marrige point, okay im also young and very unromantic. I see the beutifull point in it,
but it also seams extremly borring.

to be Frank I never thought I could be marriged, since we dont have gay marrige (yet)
so depending on if I would marrige a guy or a girl there would be 50% chance imposible depending on what gendermark my time would be there. maybe thats why I never put much thought into it?

It's not almost hilarious - it is hilarious.

I think that sort of thinking is nothing short of laughable.

As others have at least implied, it's likely the product of being underexposed and raised within closed-mindedness. People who tend to think this way also expect nobody to live their life in anyway that may seem extremely different to the way they plan to, because somehow any other way seems taboo.

In my hometown, super small rural Louisiana USA, no one had aspirations - not to leave town, not to do anything but work at the local paper mill (men) or teach at the local school (women) and have kids.  It's like people think that every human being's sole purpose for being is to one day have kids.

If you keep up with the news I think you'll find a lot of anti-abortion going on which just seems to me like they're underlining that women's sole purpose is to pop out that baby no matter what. Doesn't matter that it was a rape baby or incest baby or the mother can't take care of it or she might even die from it, she has to have that baby. But I try to stay away from that stuff because it also comes with "You can't be a man, you're a woman pretending to be a man and need to have babies" line of thought.
