One of the Quebec candidates is Micheline Anne Montreuil, a transgender lawyer who was acclaimed last week in the riding of Quebec in the Quebec City area.

"I've met her at several conventions and what a spitfire," Capstick said.

"That's exactly the sort of person who you want running for the NDP-somebody who says this isn't good enough for my community and we want better."
