Okay due to a strange incident back in high school I have a awesome son. He's 3 1/2 now and i have always had full custody of him but lately his biological dad and grandma on his dads side or trying to make things difficult for me. They have been saying horrible things about me (not true) to even my friends they run into at the store and other places. Saying my son WONT GROW UP TO BE A REAL MAN because of how I am and many other things. I am worried that they are going to try to say i am unfit because i am trans. They have already threatened it and it freaks me out. Is there anyway way they could say i am unfit just cause i am trans even if i am a good parent I even have my son going to start privet school next year because i want him to have the best chances possible I am just not sure what would happen if they did try to use that argument.

Depends on where you live. There are some areas of the world where you being trans would almost instantly remove all rights as a parent. In some places there's a lot of flexibility and nobody will really care if you're trans.

I was reassured that the US courts can not discriminate based on me being trans. The fact that I am the biological mother would most likely give me full custody if asked for it. If you already have full legal custody it would be REALLY hard for that to be overturned in court. They would basically have to prove you are neglecting your child or physically harming him for your rights to just be taken away suddenly.

This is true. I can't find the article where I read it at, but recently the government added transgender under protection of discrimination based on sex. If I find the article I'll add the link to this post.

I think this counts as harassment. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you could press harassment charges. Unless they're threatening bodily harm, I think it might only be a misdemeanor, but at least it might get him to stop ->-bleeped-<-ing with you. I know he wants to see his kid, but there are better ways. Oh well, some people let themselves get so pissed that they get to a level of stupidity we can't fathom. I remember one time my father wanted custody (only to see my mom), and he ended up slashing her tires @_@. At least your son is still young enough that he might not remember this. I was 10 during the tire incident! D:<

I am in the Seattle area, and as far as I know, the whole western part of Washington has no issues with any "alternative" lifestyle.  I work in the utility industry, which is very conservative, and I have yet to have any issues.  I am not sure for your particular town, as I don't know where you live, but we are in a liberal part of the state.  You should not have much to worry about.

yeah I live in bellingham which is pretty liberal and I think I just freaked out a bit after the last conversation I had with his biological father at that time. I realize now that it was silly to freak out even if my friends kept saying I should worry about it though I don't think i should have any problems he's lived with me the this whole time and i found out recently that his dad is on medication for being mentally unstable. But thanks for the article and stuff, I really appreciate it.
