I did post somewhere else, that there is a book about what terminally ill people reported as being the most important things that they hadn't done in their lives. Number one was not being true to yourself.
Terminally ill people were selected in hospices as they felt comfortable talking about their opinions, and they were not exploring their illness, just the general things in life.
Others were working too hard. Not spending time with their children,. Not spending time with their spouse. Taking life too seriously.
Pretty well sums it up.
