Superstar entertainer Janet Jackson is set to executive-produce a documentary that will help "stop the hate and find understanding" toward transgender people.

The documentary is titled Truth and described as "a journey through the lives of trans- and nongendered people around the world and their epic struggle for equality." The film will be directed by Robert Jason and is expected to begin production this summer.

"All people are very important to me," Jackson says in a statement released to the media. "I've been fortunate to make friends and learn about very different lives. Truth is our small chance to ask that you try and understand someone who lives their life in a way that is a little bit different from yours, even though all of our hearts are the same. We want to stop the hate and find understanding."

I hope it makes a huge difference.  But I doubt it.  The Taliban will say it is just part of the evil GLBT agenda.

NEW YORK — Grammy award winning artist Janet Jackson has signed on to be executive producer of a documentary covering the lives and struggles of transgender people around the world.

"Janet Jackson will take us on a visually innovative, cerebral journey through the turbulent lives of transgendered people of all ages around the world and their epic struggle for equality," Jason said in a statement announcing the project.

In this new project, Jason has turned his attention to stories from around the globe featuring people from Europe, North America, Australia and Latin America. He claims his new film will highlight landmark stories in the LGBT community and change the gender landscape of the world in the future.

"This film will highlight landmark mainstream stories and provide a glimpse at others that will change the gender landscape of the world forever. Just as it is hard to believe that there ever was a time when different components of society were required to use separate drinking fountains, it is as incredible that one's gender expression remains just such a target for discrimination," Jason said.

I always suspected that Michael J was gender fluid and even sexual orientation fluid. Perhaps Janet, which I consider a fine human, is doing this also to the memory of her brother. Just m speculation, please do not take offense

I'd also wondered for quite some time about Michael J's gender identity possibly being trans, certainly their expression contained a lot of femininity in later years. It seems likely that Janet could be doing this in memory of MJ.

Zythyra entertainers get a lot of flexibility to "hide" genders issues with guise of entertaining.  MJ was very pretty,  bone thin, wore beautiful clothing and jewelry and makeup, and was very effeminate in his last years.

My very strong speculation is that he WAS trans, - not beating about the bush. If so, yes he was able to express some of it - yet if he was trans, he would have been prevented (image management) to actually transition.
It also could WELL have been that this caused him some of his endless inter-personal issues.

BTW, he would not have been the only one high profile performer that due to high levels of exposure and the 'need' to maintain his image be prevented to transition. The price to pay for fame... I think so.
