I hate aviator, hate glasses that cover half my face, and dislike heavy. Am I being too picky?

Not picky at all.

However I could have shipped you a dozen frames that still can take a beating!!!!  :)

These are mine

I think they are female, I like um a lot though, they don't slip like my other ones.

I have some blank frames, they are little victorian banker-type glasses. When I get new lenses, I may lense these.

(I look a little odd and sickly in this pic - what a monster).

And I stole this sunglasses of a kid.

Pica Pica you look good!

Edge I found two similar frames that are missing opposite temples.  You can remove one temple from one pair and add it to other to create an entire new frame with variations with temples.  Designer indeed!

Oh please how did I ever last as a guy.  It is so boring!

If it is stylish do not buy it.

lol Same, but I don't like sunglasses, so I just squint a lot. My lenses tend to be expensive though because my eyes suck, so I tend not to buy expensive frames.

Just a thought instead of glasses have you thought about contact lenses that way you can wear normal sunglasses that suit different activities that you do and in all kinds of light conditions ???
I've been wearing them for years with my light sensitive eyes the only down side for me is the cost esp the RGP's,

I have thought of contacts, but I would have to wait until I can afford them as well as glasses (wearing contacts all the time is not good). Since my eyes are so bad, contacts are more expensive. Also, my son isn't potty trained yet. I am unwilling to stick my fingers in my eyes no matter how many times I wash my hands. Sorry for the ew factor there.
Nice, Pica. :)

I got some glasses. Now, I'm just waiting for them to come in. I get what people mean now! Well, I can't put my finger on exactly what makes my glasses masculine or feminine, but the new glasses I got definitely make me look more male. Yay! So excited.

People sometimes say things like "female computer" or "women's car." Impossible to find meaning in these words. It's not.

oh wow i just got glasses to replace my old ones.

This is how the scene went down.

-walking around the store I let myself float to the female section

*a girl working there walks up to me and says, "This is the girls section, i think the guys section is over there" blink blink

to which I answered, "yes I like how  colorful these are"

she smiled and then helped me pick some out

haha my friend laughed at the incident and i found it kind of funny albeit a little embarrassing too.

I ended up getting glasses with a clear frame. Hope you bought some you like.

If you ever want to try on glasses without the possible embarrassment of standing in a store (I'm terrified of the sales assistants and other people staring at me) you can go to Zenni Optical, an online optical store. You can upload pictures of yourself and 'try on' all the different types of glasses.

You can select from male frames, female frames, or unisex frames. They have loads of different styles and you can buy just the frames if you want to try them on in person if you're unsure.

It's also a lot cheaper than buying at most optical stores.

(Bringing back a sliigghhttlly older post but I think everyone should know about this place. It's fantastic!)

Bless your heart! I've been procrastinating on getting new glasses, but now I have a great way to pick what I need without quirky looks.  Thank you!

Okay so I am going to approach this topic from a different angle.

Glasses, like haircuts can excentuate or minimise features.  Be brave and go to the mens glasses section, then try on glasses looking for ones that flatter your more manly aspects.

So, if you have a small head, aim for small glasses to give the illusion its bigger.  Shapes that cover your cheek apples may help- if the lower part of the lens throws a shadow onto your cheek, we perceive its roundness from the curvature.  Thick upper frames may suggest a stronger, straighter brow bone.  The nose brace can also help suggest a thicker bridge.  The overall shape of the lens can suggest a wider jaw too... wider then taller will thin your face for example.  Avoid lens shapes that flick out at the tops like a cats eye- this suggests lashes.
Dont assume thicker equals more male.  Think the stereotype image of a lesbian we often see with thick librarian glasses... not masculinising really at all when you think about it.
One cue I suspect will work is spring arms.  Guys tend towards practical eyewear.

Hope that helps.

Ive noticed that alot of mens glasses, including my own, unfortunately....) tend to have harder edges. I believe that these tend to add more harsh angles to the face. Since men typically have more harsh angles (square jaws, mustaches, larger foreheads, etc) these further accentuate these features. Remember, go angular and go metal!

Yes!!! Expensive is feminine!  Buy durable and low price.  Heavy.

You want heavy.

I guess I am super feminine mine were $800  ;D but at least I only paid $$200 of that, my insurance paid the rest mine are Liz Claiborne and I have the transitions and the crizal lenses

oh, and the most important part, get someone with a really honest viewpoint about how you look to go with. That way they can tell you if it looks bad, or makes your head look huge, etc.
