i did my first shot and my leg hurts a lot. i was at my docs office and he showed me how to do it but i actually did it. i hit a nerve after i aspirated, it went in like a mm deeper and it felt like when you click a shock pen it sends a tingle of pain through your arm but it went through my thigh. so i was wondering if it hurts more after when u hit a nerve or if it always hurts the same regardless of wether or not you hit a nerve?

I don't know if I've ever hit a nerve but I've had my share of failures in regards to pain.  The one time I tried z-target shot method I was in pain for days after.  It doesn't always hurt.  I've had tons of shots where I felt no pain afterwards.  Usually the shot area feels a little sore the day after but it goes away within a day or two.  I think that a little soreness is going to just be normal since you are inflicting a puncture wound to yourself when you do a shot.

To help with the soreness, massage the area where you gave yourself the shot for about a full minute.  Moving the T around really helps.  If I don't do that, I get sore but otherwise I feel fine the next day.  I am happy I had a nurse tell me that at a shot clinic once. 

I don't think I have ever hit a nerve, but I have also found that every so often I get a needle that is not as sharp as it should be.  It is rare, but that is the only time I had a lot of pain when giving myself a shot.  It was too bad once I had to change out the needle then all was good.

Mine rarely hurt. I did hit a nerve once tho. It startled me into pulling out the needle and I had to do it over. That one hurt for almost a week.

I always shower just before doing my shot; makes my skin nice and soft and shots basically pain-free.

When I came to the reality that the only place you feel the sting of the needle is the first layers of your skin, (everything below doesn't have nerve endings) I was able to inject myself without any problem. What made it even easier was I found this spray on Amazon, cold spray, that is made specifically to numb the area for a short while, so that the injection isn't felt at all. So I spray on this stuff, wait a minute and my leg is numb. So its a no brainer to inject and except for that little twinge when the muscle jumps sometimes, there is zero pain and I can inject myself without any problem at all. The spray can is pricey, can be $40 other less cold spray is around $10, but it does the trick for those who are fearful of the sting of the needle.

What really helped me a lot was warming up the T really good beforehand.
Not like, heating it or anything, but holding the bottle or putting it under my arm to get it to body temperature.
As for the nerve thing, I've never had that happen, but there was a time where it felt wrong. It was just uncomfortable when I put the needle in, almost painful. No shocking sensation or anything. So I took it out and tried in my thigh (I had stuck my butt the first time).

If you're tense and the muscle is bunched up, the injection can be quite painful. The trick is to relax the muscle. Completely.

My first shot was on my thigh as well and the same as you I actually had to do it myself while the dr. talked me through it. I did not hit a nerve, but it was really sore for 2 days. I could not bend my leg without it being painful. It was tolerable though, it just didn't feel right. After my first shot, I did my injections on my butt instead and have not felt any pain since.
