Ryan Sallans lives in Omaha.

He's a writer, public speaker, a son and a recreational beer brewer. He's also a transgendered man.

Ryan said, "At age 24, I found a book in Boston, MA about a transgendered man and I saw their images and I said 'That's me.' Five months later, I began my transition."

But that was after years of internal struggles and intense bullying.

Ryan said, "I was a victim of bullying, back then we called it teasing. Kids picked up on me being different in a way, that I didn't really fit in."

Like 14-year old Kenneth Weishuhn and many other gay youths, Ryan attempted suicide...twice.
