Hi all,
...as a cd non-op mtf, my supportive wife, sis & brother-in-law went on the Statendam on a 7 day Alaska cruise from Vancouver in late May. Mid week my wife noticed the daily newsletter of the days activities listed an LGBT social hour in the Crow's Nest Lounge. I missed that one but they also had a special social time for Friday same place 4 to 5 pm. My wife and I went to that one. It could well be that there were not any persons on board this cruise from the LGBT community or perhaps they didn't want to come out. I didn't see any LGBT.
I did not know this before the cruise. My accepting niece, nephew & their so's wanted me to bring my female clothes & dress up while out there as my Sis had seen me enfemme visiting me in Toronto (Sis & family live in Vancouver), but we didn't think we had time. A day before we left for Vancouver I had to repack as the family sent me a last minute email that they had a date that they could take me out to a club in Vancouver after we got back from the cruise. Had I known Holland America had a supportive event for the LGBT passengers, I would have taken my outfit & dressed girly for the social time frame.
Next time I cruise, I should check to see if a chosen line is open, supportive & has a social space available for the LGBT passengers to meet. I have always wanted to vacation or cruise enfemme. HAL should be commended for their recognition, acceptance and encouragement of LBGT people in welcoming them aboard to be a cruise passenger. I am impressed. We had a brilliant cruise!
Finally getting a chance to catch up to the forum.
Cheers
Jamie
