I work at a sporting goods store and i been going back a forth on the issues weather or not i should came out as being transgender. One of the biggest fears that i have is that if i do come out that they may find some reason to fire me. So any advice would be helpful.

If you are in the US some states have laws against discrimination. Some states do not.

This and if your state does not have protections then your company might.

In all honesty though, trans or not, if they want you gone they will find a reason so it will look legit.

I have seen this a lot they will find some way to make it legit. My boss always loved me but i have seen a lot of people get fired that you can tell they kinda used an excuse.

My the company I work for doesn't really have a policy that
would protect transgender work which is pretty sad

Just do what you can, Ashley. Put your heart and effort into your work 110% (which I'm sure you do already!) and show them that regardless of your gender, trans or not, you are a great member of their staff and will continue to be one no matter how you identify. I guess beyond that, there's not much you can do, depending on your state's laws and your company, as you said, who do not have any policies in particular to protect you. It sucks. Try to stay positive.

Pretty much what everyone else has said. But, remember that T doesn't work immediately. It takes time, so you will have a little bit to figure out exactly what you want to do and what you are comfortable with. If you want to stay with the same company, check their HR policies and do some research to try and get an idea of how they will handle it. The state you are in will also most likely affect how your employers view you.

A very good point Ayden. :) If you'd like to look into starting T and do not want to come out to your employer immediately, you can start and still have some time to figure out what you'd like to do. I guess the time really depends on your already existing hormone level/genes.
