this is not so much a trans thing but its important to me and i really feel like sharing. so ever since that idolization of my father wore of as i left elementary school ive disliked my dad. my mother clames that it is because we are very alike and i see that a lot now we both have above average intelligence, short temper and super stubborn. so we rarely have civil conversations passed small talk. we spent 6pm to 1am without fighting and i had fun. we were cooking which is probably the only thing we both enjoy. we then went and saw the movie TED with my dad and brother, which was really funny and it was nice to have fun with my dad. it was really great also as a result of me coming out me and my dad are closer, not all that much closer but we are closer.

Good to hear things are progressing for the better bud. :)

Ah, your relationship with your dad (as far as personality attributes go) sounds just like mine. We'll get into heated arguments without backing down if we aren't careful because we are both stubborn as hell. Personally with my dad I feel as though my transitioning just alienated him, though, which is unfortunate, but I won't get into that and ruin the good mood. It is great to hear that you've recently had a good time with him! Sometimes there are those days that go so well they make your outlook a whole lot better than before. I hope you continue to have these positive times and your relationship takes a good turn.

That is good to hear.  My father passed away many years ago, but we had begun to reconnect after a long period of estrangement.  I hope the bonding can become closer.
