Plus 3500 a day a short cut to diabetes.

At 5' 7" and 125 lbs, your BMI is 19.6, which is at the low side of normal.

A 3,500 calorie per day diet can be perfectly healthy and medically sound.  It is not a waste of time, especially if you know what your goals are.

Who Should Follow 3,500 Calorie Diet?

According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, most healthy adults will need between 1,800 to 3,000 calories per day; however, some individuals need more than 3,000 calories. These individuals may need the extra calories because they partake in extreme amounts of aerobic activity, because they are underweight, or because they are undergoing surgery or cancer treatment. In any of these cases, the 3,500 calorie diet may be prescribed by a physician or dietitian....

Sample Menu

The following is a sample menu appropriate for the 3,500 calorie diet.
Breakfast: 2 cups whole grain cereal with 1 oz. almond slivers and 1 cup rapsberries, 1 orange, 8 oz. reduced-fat milk
Snack: 1/4 cup granola with 1 cup low-fat yogurt and 1/2 oz. walnuts
Lunch: 2 cups whole wheat pasta with 3/4 cups meat sauce, side salad with 2 tbsp. oil and vinegar dressing, whole wheat dinner roll with 1 tbsp. no trans-fat margarine, 8 oz. reduced-fat milk, 1 1/4 cup strawberries
Snack: 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese with 1 cup peaches
Dinner: 4 oz. grilled chicken, 1 cup brown rice with 1 tbsp. no trans-fat margarine, 1 cup steam mixed vegetables, 8 oz. reduced-fat milk
Snack: 3/4 cup fruit and nut trail mix

Tell her it ain't her damn business what, or how much, you eat.

Or, you know, don't....

Its not going to "redistribute" fat. If the fat exists, then that fat stays where its at until you lose it. Hrt isn't really going to move existing fat around.  New fat should go to more typically female areas, but there is still no absolute guarantee on that.

I am 5'11 145lbs and have a fat flabby gut and worlds most jiggly thighs. At 1500 calories/day of non-junk food I can gain weight. BTW I used to weigh 250 lbs. My wife can easily eat twice as much as me and not gain an ounce. She is also no more or less active than I am. Your body and metabolism has a lot to do with your caloric needs. She is mostly muscle, I am mostly fat. She sinks in the water, I float like a cork even when weighted down with 10lbs of lead!

If you are on the skin and bones side, I can see putting on some weight will help. If you already have an hourglass figure and not the modern "Hey look at me I have the body of a 12 y/o pre pubescent boy" model look the extra calories will get stored in whatever fat cells you have. In my case they live in my thighs, ass, tummy, and breasts. I was always flabby in those areas.

Gaining weight should be done under the same premise as loosing it..safely. Suddenly piling on the calories will only overload and overwork your organs. The effect being no less detrimental than starvation to loose weight. You probably only need to up you caloric intake by a couple of hundred a day without any other activity changes.

I would wait until after hormones.

If you react in a way I did... my appetite increased DRAMATICALLY about 2 months after starting HRT. In that time, I ate more than anybody I knew (including guys literally twice my weight) and still lost weight. That lasted for a couple months and my appetite has since decreased a bit.

I still eat quite a bit and don't gain weight but those first few months... it was like when I ate, my boobs got sore. They still do! So I seriously think the appetite increased because my body was looking for things to store in certain areas of my body. Puberty increases your appetite for you, so I wouldn't force it before it all kicks in. Your body will tell you when you need food!!

I think if you gain weight pre HRT it will be harder for you to lose it. Hormones tell your body where to place fat, so being on testosterone, the fat you get now will be placed wherever testosterone wants to place it, as opposed to where the estrogen wants to place it later on!

TBH, I think the priorities are skewed. Approaching HRT, it is more prudent to deign nutrition maximize health. I mean, hwat god would it be to develop a killer body only to develop breast cancer?

I hate you skinny B's.  I hope some day to say I am 5'9" and 150#, but have doubts about that happening.  I am currently 185#.   I am going to see a dietician next week.  Hopefully she can kick me in the pants/skirt and get on the right track.

if i stop eating the way i am rite now my parents told me they are going to tell my gender tharapist that im anerexic and plus my gender tharapist told me that if i dont gain atleast 10 lbs shes not gonna give me the letter for hormones. but anyway how many caleries do yall think i should eat to survive till i start hormones?

2-3k calories is sufficient... I was probably eating over 4,000 calories a day when I had my hunger streak... I was a freak of nature.

I remember when I went to lunch one day with a guy who is 6'4" 280 lbs. We both ate our lunch and the waitress kept bringing out chips and dip. She had to bring out 3 plates of chips before I was full... AFTER I had ate the entire entree. And btw, I was 5'4" 140 lbs. I didn't gain a pound, in fact when my appetite finally subsided, I was 128 lbs.

But it sounds like they're just worried about your nutrition and ability to keep your health in order as a human being, not necessarily because of what the hormones may do to you. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do what you have to do to get to your goal. When you're 18, you can be a lil more independent and go to a different psych etc if you don't agree with the one you're seeing. However, you may need to find another place to stay if your parents don't agree with that step...

I don't miss being dependent at all.

No one can absolutely answer this for you. It really depends on your physiology and metabolism. Some go on HRT and gain weight, some lose it. I exercise and eat healthy, and I have no issues losing weight even after 2 years of HRT. I have switched to more cardio and aerobic exercise and less strength training though.

I have not began hormones therapy yet. I am 5'9" and I am 125 pounds too. I eat 2500-4500 calories depending on my activity level and still can not gain any muscle or fat. The amount of calories is completely dependent on your activity level and metabolism. I do not think it is fair to put a hold on your letter for hormones, since afterall it will help you gain weight if anything.

Btw since hormones will direct where the new fat is stored. Does that mean it will help get rid of fat deposits that are located in common areas among the male body through exercise?

When you start MtF HRT, it is like a second puberty, and your body can produce new fat cells, to be distributed in a female pattern.  Other than in the womb, it is the only time, I know of, that new fat cells are created.
