I am so excited, it is going to be one of the best days of my life!!!!!!! But at the same time it is probably going to be one of my parents worst days  :-\  My parents dont know that I am starting on Monday and I dont really know how to tell them either. Im scared that they will be angry and disappointed. Do you have any tips on how I should tell them the news?

Tell them you love them, and you know it's hard, but you have to do it to be you, and survive. Congratulations and best wishes! Hugs, Devlyn

Congrats! This is great news!!

I found it was easiest for me to just say it.

One day I realized it was exactly one week before I would start Testosterone& knew I had to let my immediate family know I was moving forward with my medical transition.

I thought of every possible negative thing but told myself I would not leave my dorm until they knew..so I dialed& stayed on the line until I got it out.

It was rough& I remember my mom becoming emotional& that part deeply hurt me but I knew I had to move forward for the sake of my life.

It might be rough but who knows, they could take it better than you anticipated; either way, at least once it's out it's out there& you won't feel that weight of having to tell your folks you're moving forward medically.

Congratulations, harlee! A great step ahead.

Just be straight forward with your parents - it is your body, and this is what you need to do. Let them know that you understand that it is difficult for them to take this journey with you, but that you would appreciate all the support they can give you.

Congratulations Harlee!! Im very happy for you!

Regarding telling your parents, Id say its best to let them know as soon as. Especially considering youre starting so soon. Ive found, with stuff with my Mum, whether she likes it or not, shes appreciated being kept up to date on whats going on, and appreciated my honesty. The worst thing you can do is put off telling them because youre worried, as thatll just come across as you being sneaky and lying (I can tell you that from experience...)

But again, congratulations!!!

Congrats! What awesome news for you dude!  :D

As for parents, as the physical change will become noticeable I don't see how you can get around not telling them. I suggest sitting down with them and saying what you are doing and go though a little of what will happen that they can see, maybe give them some info to read on it and be prepared for some questions.

Good luck with it. And once again congrats!

Congrats sir!  :)

As for your parents I would tell them that you know that this is the best decision for you and that you know that it will bring you closer to happiness.  An alive son is better than a dead daughter.

Well I was really nervous but I told my mum. She asked "is this what you really want?" and when I told her it was, she said "I just think its really weird". Then she starting saying that when I try to get a real job, people will think that I am "the bearded lady escaped from the circus" (Im not sure where she got that idea from). My dog then came into the room and she asked my dog, "do you want to be a cat or are you just happy being a dog?" :-\ So she didnt take it too well, but it could have been worse. Now Im just worried for when my dad finds out  :-X
