if you have one, that is ;)  I'm considering getting one with my contract upgrade.  Would you suggest it?

I love mine ;D. When they first came out I couldn't understand why everyone seemed to want on. Then I got a Itouch and could see why so when my contract was up I got a Iphone 4.

I went to the shop to look at one and ended up with an Android. HTC 1XL. Love it. Being PC based it has a lot of flexibility that the iphone didn't have IMO. It is so easy to use and I'm totally amazed.

I have an iPhone 4, I like it but I'm not impressed with the camera. The 4S is supposed to be a lot better (but mine is übercool because it's red :)).

Mine is light purple, a manly colour

My actual phone itself is red (not a cover) - it was a custom job someone sold on eBay :).

I had just a regular phone from like, nearly 7 years ago until I moved countries. We got iphones (4s) here when we signed up for our contract. Its cool, I have some fun apps and carrying around my dictionaries has made life easier since I am not really fluent. The map and GPS stuff is awesome, and there is an app I can use to locate train routes and stuff. But, overall, I kinda miss my old phone. I wouldn't have gotten one in the states, and when I go back, I doubt I will get a smartphone unless that is the only thing available.

I have an iPhone 4 and before that I had the previous iPhone.
I personally love it, it's very easy to use. The battery is quite good too. I use it all the time for the Internet because it's just so much easier then setting up my laptop and it works fine on Susan's.
The apps are brilliant as well, I have a lot of games, pinball, sonic 2, chu chu rocket, GTA 3 - that kinda thing. You can get some decent free ones but I tend to wait for a sale and then get my games normally they're only 69p.
As well as that I have apps for shopping (eBay, amazon) one for comics, another for working out. Basically if you have a hobby they will likely have an app for it.
What size memory you get depends on what your going to use it for. I got the smaller size because I'm not that interested in music and it still allowed me to put a couple of films on for long journeys.
If you think your going to want lots of music, some films and lots of apps though I would go for the bigger size because it soon fills up.

The only negatives for me ( and this was the case with my old one too, plus a friends and my friends mums lol) Is that they tend to crash. You could be in the middle of something and it will freeze and you will have to restart the phone. You could be on the Internet with a full single and it won't load and you have to restart the phone. Mine also has a dodgy main button which a few people have. It's not aligned right so pressing it in the middle 9 times out of ten does nothing so I have to press it slightly to the left until i hit the spot and it does it.

I hate the thing.

The phone itself is great (I have an iPhone 4). I love that I can take my music with me, that it motivates me on my runs,  the apps, etc. You know, all the wonderful things about the iPhone. I also have a mac and it all works great together, and helps keep me organized.

Really I should say that it's me that I hate with the thing. The same reason that I hated my blackberry before it. I get too involved, and it really takes over. People know they reach me through work emails 24/7 and I'll see it right away and that I'll usually respond very quickly. The greatest days for me are the ones where I don't know that I've forgotten my phone at home (when I know I've forgotten it I'm a nervous wreck and I feel horribly naked). Downside of smartphones I guess

My phone history pretty much starts with the Nokia 3310 brick,
then once I hit smart phones I was a loyal Symbian user through Nokia, keeping my N95 for almost 2 years
Discovered touch screens after that and got myself an LG Renoir (KC910) which was great but mostly functionless as it was basic java, not part of the smart phone category.

I needed more, and so went to an iPhone 3g.. 2-3weeks later I was about ready to set the thing on fire >.<
Even now no matter what iphone I pick up, they are so unintuitive for someone not brought up on purely apple products.. It's almost like the religious apple followers decided to put up with the pain and get used to it just so that they could proudly say they own a phone with a lower case i at the start of its name.

Ended up selling it and went back to my Renoir for a while, shopping for an android.. I was aiming at the entry level stuff around $150-200 and then suddenly bought a HTC Desire HD for $550 outright. Top of the line when it first came out and only in the last few months I've found anything better.

I honestly didn't need another upgrade and would be happy with the Desire HD for another year or two as it did everything a late model smartphone should, but excess money in my wallet and eBay waving good deals in front of me resulted in buying a Samsung Galaxy SII.

So that's where I'm at now, java phones are good but functionless, symbian was great but now outdated, apple both sucked and blowed at the same time... hard
then android, it was unusual at first and not the most intuitive but within a couple of days was easy to master and with a custom ROM (CyanogenMod) suits me perfectly.

Last week I changed my iphone 4 with another refurbished one, because it was damaged by rain while I ran for exercise outdoors and met a sudden shower. After drying it with hair dryer, speakers worked again, but the home button was just dead. As I purchased it more than 1 yr ago, no warranty can be applied. The insurance company returned to me ca. 150 US$, and I paid the remaing cost of ca. 50 US$. A total of ca. 200 US$ for the refurbished iphone 4.

I think the Home buttom problem is widespread, although the Apple denies it. It is very difficult to repair minor troubles of iphone, such as the home buttom problem. Does it indeed deserve to change the entire equipment for such a minor malfunction? I do not think so, and next time I will try other types of smartphones, which can be repaired easily.

Barbie~~
Just do it.

Got a 4s in the beginning of 2012 and switched from a Blackberry.  Absolutely love all the functionality.

I refuse to put my work email address on my phone. I do get work related calls but people have to consciously call me and be willing to talk, rather than fire off yet another  email that didn't need to be acted on. At work I limit my email reading time to twice a day. First thing in the morning and then at lunch.  I did have a colleague who had a message on his work phone that all calls were directed to message bank and that he listened to them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and would respond then. He managed to get a lot of work done.

I have an iphone 4S. I honestly don't know how I lived without one. I especially like playing my friends in words with friends, etc. There's a really cool game called song pop too. The only thing I don't like is the touchscreen keypad. I have problem with hitting the backspace instead of letter m. Argh!
