Also, can't the doctor just feel your breast as a mama-gram?

No, because a mammogram is actually an x-ray of the breast tissue.  It's a more in depth look than just the breast exam a doctor could give where he just feels it.

I see. I've never had one done so I have no idea what the procedure is like or how long it takes. But I can tell you it's less humiliating than a trip to the gyno and this one(mama-gram) I could suck it up(at least I hope I can) and do it b/c the breast will be taken off.

JSYK, dominick, no trip to the doctor where clothing will be removed is going to be non-humiliating.

Just an idea that someone, maybe you are active in the local trans group or whatever. But I think it's really a great idea. They can't do this for mammograms, as they are big machines. But they are planning to have a Paps with Pabtz, which will be getting a trans friendly nurse who will actually do these tests at the center with a kind of relaxed guy atmosphere-- beer, tv games, and so on.

Not on T yet here. I will hopefully see a psychiatrist about T in Dec. I'm moving in 10 days to her area. I have a time frame I want to have top surgery by- 25. I'm almost 23 now so ya know. To save for top surgery, I am going to get a part-time day job to go along with my transfer full-time night job. I'm hoping to save 5-$600/month for it. I'll be darn tired, but I'm hoping it won't take longer than 1.5-2 yrs to afford it properly.

I do know of a few people who went to Mexico for surgery. Total costs for surgery, fees, hospital/hotel, plane, etc was like $4,000. Can't say if the results are any good because I can't seem to find images of the doctor's results.

I started T a few months before I got my surgery referal.. from referral date to surgery (because of a backlogged healthcare system).. it was something like 14 months.. overall from t date to surgery it was 16.5 months

I can see a lot of guys here really down about the money situation. :(

Try not to worry about it too much though if you can. I had a casual sales assistant role that earnt me next to nothing, and the $9000 I needed for the first stage of my surgery seemed so very far off, especially when I was still having to pay for food and things like a mobile phone and transport. I'd barely managed to save $1000 after months of work, and knew my surgery was years off at this rate.

Then I got a promotion at work (not even to manager, just assistant manager) and by keeping my spendings exactly the same (phone, transport, cheapest god damn instant noodles money can buy) I managed to save the other $8000 in three and a half months.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that while things may seem dire now, you never know what might be around the corner. So chin up guys! :)
