Did anyone watch Small Town Security this past Sunday on AMC?  It's a reality show about a family run security business, the owners are husband and wife, Irwin and Joan Koplan, and one of the employees, Lt. Dennis Croft, is a trans man.  You can watch it on youtube. If you saw it what were your thoughts?

i made a topic on this, but no replies :(
but YES I SAW IT and was like OMG awesome! and then proceeded to "sqee!" and make a youtube vlog lol
amazing that most are cool in the middle of Bible Belt Georgia. my impression of the area was from Southern Comfort, trans people are evil status. this gives me hope.
he is a really brave guy. and currently the only trans guy on a reality show. period.

It really depends on the area where you are and the people in that area.  I live in a rural area of Alabama, and no one hates on me, everyone is cool with my transition, and call me the right name/pronouns.  The south gets a bad rep but it's really not that bad.  Certain people can tarnish the reputation of any place.

I thought he came off kind of weird the way he seems to idolize the "chief."  And apparently he has a survivalist background, so that explains some of the oddness about him. I don't think the show itself is interesting enough to keep watching though.

Was anyone else bothered by the way the chief pressured him into letting her out him on her show?  He didn't seem entirely comfortable with the idea, and I think she shouldn't have used his loyalty to her as a means of manipulating him so her first episode could have a controversial topic.  Just my opinion.

That part bothered me, too.  And then I thought, they are doing a reality show, and people are going to start digging stuff up on the participants, and maybe it was easier just to publicly out himself on his terms. Apparently he had done the show pre- or early transition (pre as they called him Denise?).

I am stealth and would never out myself, but that's me.  But then, I'm not on a reality show and nobody is trying to get dirt on me.

i finally got it to play in Australia

that woman needs her head kicked in, thank god none of my bosses are like that. that woman should be ashamed of herself treating him like that. he's not her bloody slave. as for pressuring him to do the TV show that's just disgraceful. as a fellow security officer and transgender brother, i was appalled.

sorry needed to vent that woman really ticks me off

I got the feeling he really respects her and wants to please her.

I haven't seen it and probably never will - I don't generally like shows like that.

Not really. This season's Glee Project had a young Trans Guy on there!!!! http://connect.oxygen.com/contestants/show/9#fbid=_4cb4itrquQ His name is Tyler

As for the show. I just saw the first episode on their website. He has a VERY weird relationship with the boss. He shouldn't be over at their house preparing dinner and setting up the table. This guy isn't weird because he's trans. He is weird because of his strange obsessiveness with the job and his boss. Also the whole survivalist thing and Y2K is out there lol

Yeah, their relationship is weird! But whatever floats their boat!

And I don't know! I told my mom that he would be the first trans guy on glee and she said he wasn't! She said that there was already a trans person on there lol I don't know when my mom was watching Glee but I guess she was right! I'm gonna look it up!

It is TV, and it is edited the way the producers want it.

That said, they certainly could have a close relationship; maybe she (the boss) was one who gave him a chance and a job.  Transitioning in north GA can't be a cakewalk.

I found him!

It says he is a female identified diva! I'm looking it up and I don't really see anything that says he is transgender in real life!

who saw the 2nd episode?
anyone kinda feel like Joan and Dennis have a like, emotional affair? or something?
i was kinda taken aback by her kinda sorta acceptance.  she seemed much more cool in ep 1 and in interviews. but i could see how its hard to change after 9-12 years.
