Though few people knew her well, friends and family members of the late Catherine "Cathy" Brown-Owings say she touched countless lives through her activism on behalf of transgender issues. Owings died April 4, 2007, at the Norcross home she shared with her partner, Dana Brown-Owings.

I had posted about the death of a second friend last week but I had not shared that I learned on Sunday her death was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
