I thought I'd start a thread about people's heroines when they were growing up - both real and fictional, likely and unlikely, to see who crops up.

For me it was:
Amelia Earhart (the aviator)
Dr Ruth Gipps (crazy old composer and conductor)
Kate Jackson (Sabrina from the original Charlie's Angels)
Suzi Quatro
Halo Jones (from 2000AD)
Raine/Wolfsbane, and Illyana/Magik  (from The New Mutants)
Xena, Warrior Princess!
Emma Tupper (from Emma Tupper's Diary)
Ozma (from The Marvellous Land of Oz)

Your turn :).

Ms. OBrien CVT

Amelia Earhart
Kate Jackson
Diane Rigg (Emma Peel from the Original Avengers)
Eleanor Roosevelt
Angelina Jolie (Lara Croft, Salt)
Sally Kristen Ride (the first American woman in space)
Christa McAuliffe (the teacher who lost her life in the Challenger accident)
Kate Beckinsale (Selene, the Underworld Trilogy)
Hillary Clinton (Secretary of State, US Senator from New York, 42nd First Lady, Future President of the United State? )

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Great, keep them coming!

I forgot about Diana Rigg :). Oh, and want to add:

Toni Arthur (folk singer and children's TV presenter)
Floella Benjamin (was a children's TV presenter, now chancellor of Exeter University)

Just Lucy from Elfen Lied. I never really had heroes or heroines.
