Recently there was a thread about a woman who went to Thailand to get her SRS. Even though the surgery itself seemed ok, the aftercare instructions were horrible.

Actually, that could be made into a sticky...get several after-care instructions, assess them for similarities and differences, and put up a list of things to watch for and/or to do.
Clearly marked "does not replace dr.'s orders; just a list of things that one needs to be aware of", or somesuch.
...things like:
- douching.
- How to make/use a sitz bath.
- Signs of problems:
- bleeding that is discolored/won't stop/"large" amounts;
- pain beyond normal sutures etc;
- urine flow problems;
- signs of constipation, and the use of enemas;
- infections; etc
Maybe the post-op girls and mods can get together and have a discussion about this.
What I'd like to see is a sticky here in the SRS forum with a list of things that are commonly addressed in the aftercare doctors give to MTF's. I understand that there are differences between what the doctors recommend, and there should be a clear disclaimer that the sticky does not replace what the doctor orders, but rather it is a list of things that an MTF should be aware of, and discuss with the doctor at some point.
In the case of Mandy, she did not get instructions to douche...so she didn't. The thought simply never occurred to her (douching is not a normal cleansing routine for a male body). However, this led to a major infection and a subsequent hospital visit which had significant effects on her surgical outcome.
I'm trying to prevent this from happening in the future by creating a document that lists things that need to be known by a post-op woman. I myself am not post-op, but I'm thinking the forum admin (I don't know who that would be here in SRS) could roust up some post-op women and have a chat to polish the basic outline I have here.
