I will be leaving for Thailand and SRS with Dr Suporn in less than a month. I am interested in hearing from anyone that had SRS with him in the past year or few months regarding their experiences. Also, I am interested in finding out what the cost of meals were at the Chon Inter or other nearby places to eat, and where you might recommend eating.

I have read a lot and received my arrangements for pick-up at BKK from Sophie and also a general list of what is supplied and what I might need to bring. I would love to hear if there are any items which might not be listed that are necessities. Also, I would like to know of any tours or excursions that were offered or that you took during your visit.

Hi Mea. I've had ffs, srs, and ba with Dr Suporn on 3 separate occasions in that order. My BA I had while on vacation in Thailand this summer. It's been almost 7 years since srs but from what I could tell little has changed for the srs patients at the clinic since then. My operation and recovery was pretty uneventful although I suffered a terrible migraine the first 3 days in the hospital. Recovery in the hotel was okay, except for dilation of course. Other than that I think the worst part was sheer boredom. Both my husband and I developed quiet the cabin fever staying in the hotel room most of the time. I would suggest you bring books, laptop, movies or any other thing to keep you entertained.

There are two restaurants in the hotel. The Terrace Coffe Shop in the lobby is nice and the food is quiet good. I particularly like the chicken and cashews dish costing about 190THB. I think this was about the average price for items in the menu. My husband really liked the Caesar salad which he ate almost every day but I didn't try it myself. On the second floor there's a Chinese restaurant. We did not like it at all.

There's a shopping mall across Sukhumvit Road where you will find a KFC, a Pizza Company and Swendson's Ice cream (highly recommended, very good).

The best place we found near the clinic is a small Thai restaurant that is located on the same street as the hotel but opposite side of Sukhumvit Road (you'll have to use the overpass bridge to get there unless you like to play real-life Frogger). It's a bit hard to spot as it is kind of recessed into the building. Look for a pack of men hanging out shooting the breeze outside a small place with two doors at sort of a 90 degree angle. Exterior is brownish, it's on the left hand side as you walk down the street and there's another hotel across the street from it. Also there's a coffe shop inside the restaurant so if you see that you know you are in the right place. The food is about half the price of the hotel and it is excellent. Try the fishcakes, grilled beef salad and the chicken curry with potatoes. There's a starter dish called Rhoom that was my favorite. Not sure exactly what it was but they came with a citrusy/spicy dipping sauce. They cost about 70THB and I had a portion every time we went there. Yum! (See picture bellow)

Hey there! I am just a few weeks out of surgery with dr suporn, and am in fact lying on my back unable to sleep at the chon inter at the moment....

Simply put, from the moment we (my wife and I) were picked up from the airport, until now (and Im sure, through monday night when we leave), everything has been full service TLC. I cannot say enough about the royal treatment, how you get everything you need, around the clock care and attention as you need it, etc. If you search my posts over the past few weeks, youll see exactly how in love i am with these folks.  ;D Suffice it to say, please don't let a negative thought cross your mind flying over here. They make you feel like a part of their family in about three minutes (in my case, especially Aey and Jhai). Dr Suporn is kind of robotic, but reeking of confidence and he does warm up after a week or two... :) Just did the after care class yesterday... a thorough one hour presentation with booklet telling you everything that might come up over the next year.... very impressive.

Since I had a catheter for two extra weeks, and I don't like carrying around a sack of urine, we had room service every night.... quite good, western and asian choices, very fast service. About 200-300 baht per good sized entree (6-8 USD). The free breakfast in the morning is very choice, and the selection of bread is great too...Only complaint is internet.... the best value is to just get a solid one month unlimited pass for 100 USD, since the TV isn't very good. You waste a week of it at the hospital, but it works out. There, get a one month pass also (only kind available, but only 10 bucks). Use it for your week, then give it to the next girl going in at the hotel.... four people can use it that way, and I was told to do this by one of my nurses so it isnt a problem,....

Write if you have any questions! Otherwise, come with a happy heart. Good luck!
Blessings,

D
