So, one day down and it was pretty uneventful. Essentially it was another meet and greet type of thing just like my initial consultation. A little background and, for some reason, most of the hour was me telling my job history. Whatever, I guess, she is the professional...
However, I already have a couple concerns. Not about her being bad or anything like that. It is just that there no therapists around me that have experience with TG. Of the ones that I met with she was the one I seemed to get along with the best. So, it was like picking the best of the inexperienced lot. The first concern that I have is that when I emailed her that she would need to be knowledgeable on the SOC. However, when we met she had to ask me what the SOC were. I wanted to do one of those moves where I take my glasses off and pinch the bridge of my nose. You glasses wearers out there will be familiar with that move of exasperation. I do have faith that she will read up, but I wonder if she understands that she does have control as far as HRT letters and whatnot. She did state that her boss, if that is the right term, has a long running therapy relationship with a MtF from first therapy session to post-op. I guess that is something, right? The person that she reports to and consults with does have first hand knowledge that they can share. The second concern is just a passing comment she said, undoubtedly meant to be reassuring. She said that she "is excited to learn from this". What? Learn from this? Damn it, your the professional here you are supposed to have an idea of what is going on already... Oui!
So, that is it in a nutshell. We will be meeting once a week for the foreseeable future. And she did give me a substantial discount below her normal rate.
I don't know, should these be concerns? I mean, she is getting the last of my savings to help figure me out so I can't afford to waste my few remaining dollar bills only to start over with someone else.
Maybe I am just overthinking...I do have that problem.
