Heya, I was wondering whether anyone has had any experience of lacing or any other useful ways to decrease the size of their ribcages.

I have an athletic body with little-to-no fat but whenever I wear look in the mirror or wear bras, my ribcage sticks out and makes me look like a 4 udder-ed dairy cow  :-\

I've heard HRT can shrink the ribcage, as can corsets and/or lacing so if anyone has any info/tips or experience then i'd very much appreciate hearing it  :)

Well i never hear of that
QuoteI've heard HRT can shrink the ribcage
Or you must be pre puberty , else your molded in your shape .
Your ribcage only expand if you breath in ,and with a corset you could make it a bit smaller.
If you keep doing this in years you can bring down the size, but i have no idea how much !
If i read this

Looks more like a to small band size problem or a tiny/small band.

Hi Bexi,

Well, from what I've read on sites such as Romantasy's (I think that's the spelling. I may be wrong) of Long Island, if you are conscious enough to go 24/7 for several years. Like in the order of plus 5, you may be able to achieve some body modifications in that regard. You have to constantly keep adjusting your corset to apply the necessary pressure to meet your desire. And when I say 24/7, you are only allowed to remove it for your daily bath/shower

I personally wouldn't advise it as it can be harmful to inner organs being compromised. What may work better for you and be even cheaper, would be to seek a fashion coordinator to suggest appropriate fashion styles to compliment your body shape and style.

Be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi,
I have been corseting for nearly half a year now. In fact, the corset was one of the first purchases I made that caused me to do serious self reflection.
Anyway, I'm 5'2, 95lbs and my fat always goes to my love handles which I now see as beautiful hip fat. Within two months of corseting--without hormones mind you--my waist was at the 24" mark while corseted. (I was naturally a 28") My hips at 30". Now, without my corset on, I'm a 25. I noticed almost instantly my rib cage caving in. Now I did go very very slowly in tightlacing it. Spending only a few hours a day laced up and only a reduction of about an inch for nearly a month. After that, I slowly increased it. I was shocked by how fast and how permanent/semi permanent the results were. I haven't been wearing my corset too much because of the heat, but I haven't really noticed any change or need to wear it.
I'd highly recommend it. One of the major pluses is it teaches--more like forces--you to walk like a woman. The sudden change in your center of gravity will force your hips to sway in a very natural manner.
Downsides: cost, time, can't lie down, hard to use the bathroom, hard to sit, hard to eat, takes some getting use to.
Hope I've helped.

Hello Bexi,
I have the same problem. My bottom three ribs are turned out at about 45 degrees to the rest of the ribs.
I have tried a corset to try to change their shape and re-align them with the other ribs but it did not seem to be very successful.
I agree with Catherine Sarah that using a corset might cause some problems to the internal organs, however, I did try.
I am wondering if there might be an operation that could change the alignment of the ribs. Is anybody aware of such an operation, who can do it and how successful is it?
Hugs,
Bronwen.

Its been immensely helpful thanks  :) One of the main reasons which I forgot to mention before was the posture thing - I tend to slouch when sitting (which isnt feminine at all!  :P), so having a constant reminder would definitely help methinks! Also after a while I imagine sitting straight ecomes 2nd nature too.

Theres a corset shop that I pass every day on my way to university which I've always been tempted to go into so I might sum up the courage to give it a go. Which type would you recommend? A friend told me that the traditional Whalebone ribbed ones are the best

I was thinking of wearing it, not eating it  ;) (Sorry couldn't resist  ;D)

Thanks again :)

Yeah that does seem similar to me, although I've figured out that ive still got a manly six pack, which is proving extremely hard to shift and doesnt help improve my feminine figure!

I've heard of that procedure (sorry the name escapes me at the moment) but I don't know if its cosmetic or an important operation. At the current moment in time, i would be loathe to go under the knife purely to fix my ribs as personally I would have other work first, but if everything else is 'done', then who knows! :)

PS Love the name!

Hi again. As for boning, so long as you have one with steal boning you are fine. I don't think you want whale boning because that means some poor whale died so you could get dressed. But yeah, that is what they used to use. But steel is much stronger I would think.
As for where you can get one, you could try a local shop, but it is going to cost you a pretty penny!
I got mine from this website: corsetdeal.com
You're going to want an underbust corset--unless you have a bust to support naturally. You're going to want to pick out a size that is 4" smaller than your current waist. If you have a 26, you get a 22. If you have an odd number, like 31 then get a 26 or a 28.
Corsetdeal is not very good with returns though, but the cheap prices are a plus. If I had a local shop that sold corsets in my area, I would have gone to it. But I know that such shops would have prices in the 300-500 range.

Apples Mk.II

My lower ribs are usually pointing inwards so I already have a smaller waist than hips (not a lot, though).

Anyways, which is the needed corset, overbust or underbust? Yet I keep seeing those "waist training" corsets in that website.

Edit> Duh, didn't read the last message...

I suppose it's better to be at minimum fat before doing this?

Absolutely. Then see what HRT does to you.
