Superintendent John Newby would not confirm students' claims that a student had threatened to take a gun to school Wednesday. He said there was no specific threat and no weapons were found.

The Day of Silence at New Castle Chrysler High School was part of a national observance to support gay, bisexual and transgender students. Some evangelical groups also used the day to protest what they call the "homosexual agenda."
