I know you said it was an infection but just to let you know I get a lump every single time I have my injection. It doesnt itch though just hurts. I am on high dose and the T I have is very thick, if you find you keep getting a lump then rub the area as soon as you can after an injection. Do it for a few minutes and it will stop the lump forming.
I'd also like to add that it might be prudent to use an alcohol wipe over your fingers as you rub the lump. I am very nervous about infections, so my routine is to wipe the bottle with an alcohol wipe, then use an 18 or 20 gauge to draw from the bottle, then switch to a 23 gauge needle, wipe the area I am about to inject with alcohol, let dry a few seconds, inject, and then use another alcohol wipe to rub down the testosterone lump. It may be a little over the top, but I have never had an infection in the over 7 years I have been self injecting. I usually go to one of those needle exchange programs we have in our city and they are more than happy to provide me with any and all syringes and gauges I need. They also load me up with boxes of alcohol wipes and a sharps container which they take, once full, and give me a new one. I love my city.
PS: I am really glad you went to see a doctor to get some antibiotics. Those kind of things can be really dangerous if left untreated. I had a tiny scratch once in my tailbone area and I went to a bathhouse party about ten years ago (it was a women's bathhouse and I was still living, sort of, as female....regardless, this bathhouse allows trans men to come **haha, double entendre** for those who still feel a deep connection to the queer women's community).......Anyway, I went into the hot tub, naked......where about a dozen or so others were, and many more had been for hours before. The next day, I developed what looked like a huge and very painful zit on my tailbone, where the scratch had been.
A few days later, it was getting bigger and I was feeling sicker. I was bone dead tired and feeling very woozy and a bit nauseous. I ended up passing out. I went to the emergency room and the doctor told me that bump on my tailbone was poisoning my blood and that if I hadn't of come in.....if I had waited any longer, I might of ended up in another part of the hospital.....a very dark and cold part, known as the morgue. Needless to say, I was extremely shocked. He put me on a course of strong antibiotics and within a few days, I was feeling *almost* normal.
I will never again let an infection fester (although I didn't know at the time it was an infection), but I certainly won't let what I think is a big pimple, that hurts like hell, go untreated again. So, I am very glad for you that you went to see the doctor. It may not have ended up as severe as my case, but one never knows. I sure hadn't a clue.
