I agree with bad makeup. Properly done it accentuates the good parts and plays down the bad. I wouldn't walk to the mailbox without at least a little mascara and lipstick :P

Same with most women, apparently.

It sounds fun to spend all that money though, even if it's over a 80 year period ;)

Keep in mind that the number was probably based on what someone reaching the end of life now has spent. I had a conversation at checkout recently when I dropped over $400 on a few items to update my wardrobe, about the fact that in the mid-80s I remember spending about $400 on what was a huge shopping spree for myself in guy mode and my ex in girl mode... $400 then was a lot of stuff... I think it even included dressy suits for both of us. Now it covered maybe 2 casual dresses, some leggings and hose, and a few assorted tops (all of this on fairly deep holiday sale discounts), plus some earrings, undies and a scarf or two. And this $400 trip was not my only clothes shopping trip this season.

I do keep telling myself that I need to be using my sewing machine more... I have a pretty embarrassing fabric stash at this point that has not been getting any of the attention it deserves. Hoping my changing attitudes and refusal to stay stuck will mark a turning point, though.

I can believe this when you consider how expensive bras can be! LOL but I suppose it depends on the area the women live in. Some places are really cheap and others arent.

When I was in asia I could buy a new wardrobe from the night markets and not even care because it was that cheap, so yea!
Awww no my little kitten gif site is gone :( sad.

Well, I'm lucky. I don't believe in using makeup or underwear. I'll save a fortune!  :D

I do. But just light makeup. I don't care about underwear, also. :)

No underwear????? what?

I see it as being useless. You can wear it if you want, but I'd rather not have people start something with this, if it's all the same.  :)

Honestly, when I was still presenting male I hated to wear underwear. If I did wear any it was boxers. Now however, I won't even go to bed without it as it is quite useful.

If I didn't have my 6 year old son living with me I would do the same.  ;D

I am sorta guilty, I spent close to $200 on Foundation, Mascara, and some brushes.

A friend gave me a really nice eye liner so I am good there, don't really need any concealer so I am good there.

I still need a good lipstick, and some blush.

I found a great brand of lip color that you can wear all day without worrying about it rubbing off.

Congrats on getting all the makeup together BTW.

I am intrigued, my skin tone demands a nice shade of red.

If you check out Lip Sense, they have tons of different colors. You can even mix them to make your own shade.

I don't wear a ton of makeup, but I have to use mascara and darken my eyebrows with whatever because otherwise they are very blonde and invisible and I think it looks bad, at least on me.  I'm still looking for lip gloss that stays on my lips for more than five mins.  I'll have to look into Lip Sense, eh?

I'm not against makeup like others here, I just feel better about how I look with less, at least recently.

And I would absolutely spend $280,000+ in my lifetime on clothes if I had the money.  No question.
