i hate school because of incompetent people someone was supposed to tell all my teachers to call me parker and its ridicules because the teaches that i dint have previously and knew me as parker they all used my birth name. i hate this dumb stuff the only reason this happens is because people dont do what they are suposed to. also i have a long history with everyone at my school half have known me from elementary about 12 years and the rest have known me for up to 5 years. so i cant really have a relationship with anyone without constantly wondering how much they know and what they think.

Make your teacher proud and use some capital letters! Hugs, Devlyn

Come to my class and I'd call you by your correct name, however I would ask that you start with a capital and end with punctuation. :P

BTW, I will tell you you are quite right re: the incompetent people that tell teachers what to do. They are called the administration. If they are too incompetent to be the administration of the school, they end up working at the district level. What a bunch of idiots!!

Sorry for your troubles though! I am trying to get people to call me ______ vs my given name. It is uphill.

Yea sucks bro, but really if you want to make absolute sure that your teachers are going to respect your new name and use the right pronouns YOU have to take the initiative and email them yourself or meet with them before classes. You can't rely on other people to take care of business for you because people suck and can't be relied on. I emailed mine a week before classes started and have had no problems. Good luck getting your teachers on the right page. You look AWESOME these days so anybody misgendering you is a jerk.

I dont get my teachers emails unless they give it to us. When I first came out I told my teachers and they didn't redpond well. My guidance counselor emailed all my teachers last year that went over much better. she told the new guidance counselor to do it this year and she apparently didn't.

I don't trust that teachers actually check their email during the summer, so what I do (did this yesterday too as it was the first day) is get to all of my classes earlier than everyone else, which isn't too hard because most people socialize since it's the first day of school. I basically tell them I'm going through a transition, my name isn't legally changed yet, but I present as Jacob/male blah blah. If they don't agree and go all "I need a note from the office first" I ask them to call me by my last name for the time being.

However, this year was a tad different. My name will really be changed sometime next month, so I just told my teachers "My name in the school system is Brianna, but it's supposed to be Jacob. It won't be changed until late October." The reaction from all of them was "How could they make such a mistake?!"  so I told them I was changing it, the school didn't make a mistake. . .It was quite funny actually :D

I hope it all works out for you though! Best of wishes

my name pops up as last, birthname (parker) also my freind has last name, korean name (albert) so its not so uncommon, so when i correct them they think nothing of it. also they call me by male pronouns even though it has an F next to my name and i didnt tell them otherwise.

Wow that's rather jerkish, is the principle on your side? You should ask them to talk to your teachers.

anibioman

my principle is really cool but until i legally change my name it can only be in there in parenthesis.

Jamie D

On principle, I need to inform you it is "Principal."
