Just wanted to see what other people use. Myself - I use coconut oil. It does not have any weird chemicals in it and it does a wonderful job of giving my skin a youthful appearance.

I have sensitive skin and I hate wearing foundation, so I'm kind of OCD about my moisturizers.

For my face I use Kiss My Face: Face Factor SPF 30 Face + Neck for daytime and CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Lotion PM for nighttime.

For my body I use CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion.

Also, a lot of people neglect their cleanser. Never use soap on your face, omg. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is mine. (Yes, I'm really into CeraVe. But their AM facial moisturizer sucks. So just because a brand is good for one product, doesn't imply their others are good. Can never be too careful.)

http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ - for checking what's in what you are using and whether it is hazardous. "Natural" and "organic" do not necessarily mean safe. And then everyone has their unique allergies / tolerances.

For me, it's always about finding a balance of "not too toxic" but still actually does what it's supposed to.

I really want to try the oil-only care regime, but I'm kind of terrified of what it will do to my skin. I'm suspicious I'll be one of those folks who gets horrible breakouts from it. And you are still going to need an SPF for daytime anyway if you aren't very dark.

Vichy Normaderm. Does a good job at fixing the colour differences on my T-zone, and does not leave me completely red as other ones.

Perfect for dry faces like mines but a nightmare for Oilier faces

There is a load of quack science involved in cosmetic creams.  A pot of moisturiser costing £5.00 is just as good as one costing £50.  Just buy one you like the feel of and which has a pleasant aroma.

Agree as well.

I use Vaseline facial moisturiser. SPF30 sunscreen.

The difference between expensive and cheap moisturiser is money, and that is all.

Many tests have shown that.

I recall one dermatologist saying that is little difference between most moisturisers and lard. I thought it was a bit extreme but I got the point.

Actually, given that I have sensitive skin, I think I'll stick to one that's fragrance-free since I don't much like breakouts. All moisturizers are not made equal. But you're right, many of the expensive ones are just as terrible for you as many of the cheap ones. Price is pretty irrelevant.

There has actually been an enormous amount of research done around cosmetics. The main finding can be summed up as: we put a lot of dangerous crap on our skin. We used to use lead for makeup. Turns out we haven't really improved all that much.

another one with sensitive skin here. My skin is perfect when I use Olay(for daytime with SPF 30) and Cerave (for nighttime to replenish my skin since hormones h ave made my skin thin and dry), but using greasy stuff like cocoa butter ANYWHERE on my body causes me to break out, same with perfumey lotions from bath and body works.

Some body butters from the body shop are okay though, they're more natural and help my hands stay free from ashiness (y'all don't realize the burden of ashiness when you have some color :P).

Whatever's on sale, as long as it has aloe and no perfumes in it.

I need to buy some quality washclothes, though. The ones I have I got at Wal-Mart (10 for $5) and they have all the silky-smooth feel of genuine 300 grit sandpaper...
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...
