Yes, there are other sensitive guys out there. I still cry at books and movies and I'm grateful for it. The worse periods of my life were when I forced myself to stop crying...that lead to self-injury & cutting. I now rejoice that I can cry, both for the characters I like and for myself when being who I am is too much to handle.

The "guys can't cry" thing is cisnormative bull->-bleeped-<-. Plenty of guys cry, even more probably need to.

Sooo, I'm a cryer. Sad moments in movies/TV/when Dobby died in Harry Potter (THE BOOK). I cried at my brother's wedding, I cried when I found out I got dropped from two classes because I accidentally missed the first day of school. ect, ect. Now, I just consider myself I sensitive badass. But my mom says it's just because I'm girl and can't be a man. Drives me nuts. I assume I wouldn't cry as much if I was on T. Anyways, I'm kind of scared to ask but.. Are there any other sensitive guys like this out there?

Picking an example of a man who gets made fun for crying isn't exactly helpful here. The point we are making is its okay to cry, and you pick someone who is not only very unpopular but gets made fun for crying.

Hey everone, I really appreciate all these responses. Thank you all so much. I feel much more secure in my sensitivity now. I've always liked it about myself and feel it makes me a better person than I would be otherwise. I shouldn't let my mom get to me like that. Thanks again!

I cry very easily. 90% of the tear-jerker movies get to me.

Meanwhile, Legends of the Fall is one of my favorite movies ever. If you're not crying by the end of it, you better figure out who stole your soul before it's too late!

I agree with everyone that being sensitive is totally okay and does not make you less of a man.

It is possible that you would cry less on T. It's not necessarily good. After I was on T about four months, I suddenly discovered after a really bad day that I couldn't cry anymore. It was just not in the drop-down menu. Gone. Trying to cry was like trying to hiccup on purpose. I think I spent ten minutes making faces and going "HNNNNNNGH" before I realized it wasn't happening. Now I'm learning other ways to deal with negative feelings, since the formerly-fast-and-easy way doesn't work. The only time I've really cried since then was right after surgery.

I've always had very low estrogen, but in the last few months I've gotten where practically anything makes me tear up a little.  Not full-on crying -- that's always been rare, and continues to be so -- but teary-eyed.  It's weird.  I think it may be because of changes in my psych meds?  Dunno.

Yeah, I'm a pretty sensitive guy; before T, I cried at both sad and happy movies. There's nothing wrong with crying as a man; in fact, a lot of women really dig it. I cry at sad movies (who could not cry at the end of Marley and Me?) and I cry at emotional moments. I know when my son leaves for college I will probably tear up. My younger son, the  16 year old 2nd degree black belt, cries also, so it cannot be a totally hormonal thing.

Everybody cries. I do not give a damn who they are or what they claim. Everyone.

That over with, I cry. Very rarely, but it happens. The day we put one our dogs down I bawled like an infant and this was a dog that didn't particularly like me or any males (we adopted him, previously abused).

Same thing with the 'Harry Potter' series. Snape's bit really got my goat. Book and movie both. Not to gloat, but I knew he was a 'good guy' all along. Nah-nah.

I grew up with the series, so I cried just because it was over. I read the last book at 18, so I have grown up roughly in line with Harry's age in the books. When the last movie was done, I bawled my eyes out too. It felt like a really important part of childhood was over and it made me sad and happy at the same time. I dunno why. I'm weird like that.

That being said, I'm re-reading the books again so, it didn't really end.

I'm a very emotional person. I was absolutely bawling during The Abyss at one point. Just complete hysterical sobbing. Same went for near the end of the game Shadow of the Colossus. It really got to me especially since I adore horses.

I also absolutely squeal with joy and gush over things I find adorable, romantic, sweet, etc., and laugh like a maniac over anything I find hilarious.

Oh, man, anything with animals getting hurt just kills me.  (I haven't seen the end of the game, but I'm guessing from context.) Especially cats.  I have a deep love of cats, and I can't even stand hurt-kitty jokes.  Hell, if one of my cats even looks sad I feel compelled to hug them.  Crazy cat dude?  Absolutely.

I just had about an hour long crying session..all I can say is that it relieved most of my stress and got rid of my stress headache. So I guess there are some good things about crying..
