I want to get a smartphone and pre-paid plan that will allow me to chat unlimited on susans chat, what kind of phone do i need? My current one is not iphone or android but uses javascript and java, yet nothing happens when i go to to chat page. I need something thats good for that as well as good for watching youtube videos.

With my two year old Samsung android and an IRC-app I can chat on Susan's chat without any problem (I would suggest to avoid the webbased chat on any phone)

On your current phone doesn't a solution like jmIRC work for you?

Any smartphone should have an irc app.
iOS has colloquy, there are a couple ones for android, symbian and windows mobile (6.x) have some as does windows phone (7.x) although limited to IRC7 because of limitations.

I'm not sure if this is still true but it's been known in the past that Verizon wireless will block access to all IRC servers from their network. Even on a pre-paid plan offered by a "leased" vendor.

Make sure if you get one there is a return policy in the event you cannot connect to an IRC network.

I'm currently running Sprint on an Android phone and have had no problems using any IRC program off the market to connect to chat.

And what happens if you try to connect using the Mibbit webapp?

I'm not a native speaker, so that might be the cause ;) ;)

Mibbit is banned so there's no point.

Sorry, didn't know that (and didn't try either on this server)

I don't like mibbit either. However I sometimes provide it as a simple solution to those who don't have access to java or an appmarket on their devices. (but I must admit adding mibbit to the banlist isn't a bad idea after all ;)  )
